Pink Stylo needs help

I wanted to post an update w/ pic of the Stylo. Thanks again for the help as I was a bit nervous for this one.

The tissue has regrown and color has started to come back. I can even see signs of growth. Whew!

Wow, that is an awesome comeback. When I saw the previous photo with the STN'd white area, it made me think that this was a goner. Good luck with your tank and corals. Its nice seeing successes after a coral looks in a pretty bad state. :bounce1:

great job with the come back. just be careful not to introduce too much nutrients into the system. a nitrate spike may degrade corals and sprout algea bloom

Wow! What a comeback! I saw that first pic and I was like that corals is toast! I'm pretty impressed!

Thanks to all. I have been watching nitrates (with all the target feeding) and so far so good, N03=0. I think this is in part to the fact of my 75 gal refuge that is full of cheato and 4 mangraves. So far so good. today i mived the stylo off the substrate up 4" on a rock, if goes will I will move it closer in a few days

First, I felt the reason the coral was in decline was due to acclimation. I dip all my corals in revive, and I remember this one I put too much concetrate in and I think thats what put it over the edge. I also placed the coral high in the tank at first and the intense light I think made matters worse.

So I kept the coral in low light and good flow and kept target feeding it once a week. I test my water routinely so I knew that wasnt the problem. Also some said my tank was still to early and I think the extra month or so of aging has helped. The tank is going on 5 months now and I see coraline algea growth now which I didnt at first.

I feed zooplankton, mixed home made blend for fish and corals and Rods Food. Phytoplankton is useless to sps as it is too small for them to grab. It is great for clams, sponges. pods and gorgons. The zooplankton is sized better for sps and clams and sponges can also feed off it.

Thanks I will try zooplankton. I just notice my sps dont get much polyp extension, maybe zooplankton will help. Color and growth look good so I am not to worried at the moment, just trying different things. Thanks for the tip

How is your water flow? I've always had crappy polyp extension (PE). But since using Vortech pumps or being able to generate good/random water flow with a combo of other pumps, PE has always been very good for me. I never feed my SPS directly.

Currently I find that my two MP10's on reefcrest mode produce the best PE on my SPS. My green Milli has awesome PE all the time.
