WOW Bongo Shrimp that is one of the best brown to colourful transformations I've ever seen! WOW.

For the benefit of everyone can you tell us what tank setup houses the shortcake? Did you make changes to effect the transformation? How long did it take to change?

Many thanks.

Keep the thread going peoples; it's so nice to see brownies change to pretty colours. :D

Heres a few that had color and PE loss after purchasing.

This was my biggest rescue, but he eventually died after 3 years. The dying base coral is the large green one on the right in the second photo.

Mine is not a shortcake. It is some wild aussie colony I was able to obtain. It is strictly pink (it's more pink than that photo which looks purply) and white. It looks all pink when the colony is viewed from the sides. I did not do anything different to help it change and it took 3 weeks for me to be able to tell it was pink and maybe another 2 or 3 to get where it is now. It may have taken longer because I acclimated it to the LEDs and upped the power over a period of weeks.

Setup:
Biocube 29g
DIY 15 Cree CW and 15 Cree RB
DIY Phosban reactor fuge full of chaeto, lit by 3 Home Depot T5s
LR rubble in the back with a few bioballs on top (Chamber 2)
150w heater (working on getting a chiller but cooled by a fan for now)
Fluval G3 canister filter for added volume and I can put any media I need in there. It also monitors temp and conductivity.
Vortech mp10 on reef crest around 75%
ReefKeeper Elite to control and monitor everything.

Parameters:
Salinity- 1.025~
pH- 7.8-8.0
Alk- 8-9 (Working on figuring out the exact proper dosage for my new DIY buffer
Phos- .25 (API test kit, going to try salifert to compare)
Nitrate- 0
Nitrite- 0
Ammonia- 0
Calc- 350-400 (trying to keep it higher but big colonies and 5" clam just suck it down)
Mag- 1350

I also dose a multitude of Brightwell products.

O.K,

My sps transformation isn't as dramatic as Bongos' but with a change in lighting from MH to custom LED set-up I had a large acro colony that was a dull brown. I was close to pitching it. But then I made the swith to LEDs and it is now a beautiful shade of blue!

The first pic with MH, the colony is the top, center:

In this pic it was starting to color up and send a branch off in the back that looks good, but when I got it, it was brown and funny looking.
