Reeferhead's 60gal Softie/Jawfish Build

That sux. Tell them to triple bag next time and pack the bags in peanuts and styrofoam box, inside a cardboard box like Live Aquaria does.

I found the last one dead this morning.

I think other than needing to double (or triple) bag, the packaging was sufficient. The bags are really thick and heat sealed. I had ordered so much other stuff (snails, rics, etc) that there was no room styrofoam peanuts. They use styrofoam sheeting to line a cardboard box rather than a complete styrofoam box. Its not the greatest packaging I've seen but its not bad.

Yep it sucks. I should have QT'd but I wanted to leave it open for some fish I had planned for the 150. I thought the jawfish would be fine since they were coming from the same source and similar collection area. I thought wrong, obviously. Sealife Inc sent me an email last night that stated the batch of jawfish mine came from weren't doing so well and that they pulled them off their website. :(

I'm going to let the tank run fallow of fish for a good three months. Unfortunately, this means I probably won't get any replacements until late next Spring as the typical collection season for these guys ends in a month.

Thats a bummer sorry to hear the tank was coming together so nice and i enjoyed following this build. Hopefully by spring you'll have it up going.

Despite all these issues. Sealife Inc continues to provide great communication and customer service. They have offered to replace all 9 jawfish and cover shipping costs when my tank is ready to receive them.

Still, its a bummer for sure.

The tank won't see fish again until probably April but the corals are doing good so I just wanted to post some pics for my benefit if nothing else. Compared to my 150 this tank has been practically frustration free, knock on wood. No skimmer, no GFO, and barely any water changes but virtually algae free.

Thanks everybody, I think the best part is that probably 70% of the corals in there are part of the CDP. I'm the original donor for many of the rics but most of the zoas came from generous SLASH members.
