Just finished this last week. I just need to add a platform to the underneath of the sump (thanks to the tip from someone here on RC) and to change over everything from my 70g tall.

Here is what I did for my new 180 with a frag tank on the side. crappy picture but you get the idea, I am upgrading from a 46 bow you see in the background.

First time building a stand. No previous woodworking experience. Just watched a lot of New Yankee Workshop.

A little better pic of the stand.
I learned a lot from this first attempt. Think the next one will be a LOT better.
Just switched my loghts out to T5's and now I'm making a canopy to match.

Scoobster, I like the frag tank on the side. I should have enough room to the side of my 180 to do the same.

bshumake, Nice stand. Ditto for Norm!

Has anybody considered using granite for the top of the stand? I wonder if be too slick and thus the tank could be pushed or moved by accident?

Here's my first one;

Here's my first one;

I built this for a 210 AGA RR, had the 75 up and going, so went ahead and built a hood to match for the time being. Have since sold this set-up and am now in the process of building another for a 180 AGA RR. I painted the antique bed in the foreground to match the stand.

Well I have hesitated to post my humble little Nano but here it is anyway. Maybe it will give some others some ideas.

It is a standard 5.5 all in one and the entire cabinet is scrap from old furniture pieces recycled. It would only be viewabloe from the front where we were putting it so I built it with that being the only view. The two side sections are removable for mainainence and to see the sides when needed. the left side contains two compartments for rubble and a pump the secont section contains two sections with a deep sand bed iand chaeto in one and the heater and intake of a hob filter.

It is my little Nano treasure chest, and has turned into one of our favorite's.

I think with the weight of the tank (size?) it would have a hard time moving, or being bumped. Im getting ready to start my other build and a tile, or granite top is going to be used.

Stevedola... feel like shipping a rimless nano & stand to NY? ;)

IMO I can't WAIT to see large(r) rimless tank with a granite stand!

stevedola,

can you provide a materials list? is that plywood you are using? what type?
