I can relate to some of the above posts about this hobby. In 2008 I started with a 14 gallon Biocube. Quickly outgrew that, along with a 75, and lastly a huge 150 gallon tank. The lure to grow corals overwhelmed my original desire to have a few beautiful fish adding beauty to my home. The corals bug I guess is like Pokemon, Gotta Catch Them All. With that we add SO much complication. Thousands of dollars in equipment, delicate chemical balances, and tanks that hardly have any fish. I played the game for about three years before I ran out of time and patience.
My new setup is going to be a keep it simple stupid setup. A stock 32 gallon Biocube LED. No additions. I plan on having a four or five fish, a robust clean-up crew, and then some simple corals. Some xenia, mushrooms, frog spawn, basic polyps, and that is about it.
I just finished my cycle, and will begin to slowly add fish and such. One advantage of having done this before is that I am in no rush. 'm going to take it nice and slow. It might be a month or more before I even add a fish. I want to make sure all is well and enjoy the tank at every stage as it matures. (Currently my single peppermint shrimp is the sole occupant, lol.)
I'll create a build thread later this week. Cheers!
