SPS color changed in one month @o@

what salt do you use? skimmer?

whatever your are doing, don't change a thing. just keep doing it.

Since I'm having a 18G tank, so I dont mix the salt myself,
I just buy the mixed saltwater thru a trust LFS,
They use RO/DI and pretty good salt, I believe they use Redsea Salt (Not 100%sure tho, will find out next time)

Skimmer-
since my sump is only10G and I got no enough space, so I bought a hang back skimmer

ViaAqua Multi-Skimmer Deluxe w/ 5W UV Sterilizer

I unplug the UV recently since I'm using the brightwell Bio7 serious, and I found it's better shut the UV off

Thanks~I will keep the work going ^^

KoralColor(Brightwell) how do you like it? what does it do?
so many things you are dosing im sure it's kinda hard to pin point how well
one chemical does in terms of changes to the reef. let me know regardless
i went to my LFS and they dose that particular chem and the corals look amazing.

Wow, beautiful tank and nice coloration, very impressed!

Double impressed that you have done this with these equipments which are normally considered as 'low end', 'crappy', 'not for SPS' etc.

Keep up the good work!

Straight outta Pandora!

Thanks guys...!! So kind of u,~:bounce3:
LOL....when I bought this SPS, I didnt know it kind of bleach out, I thought that's the original color, haha

I'm trying so hard to keep the sps now,
coz my tank is only 18G and I have really heavy load on corals, LPS and SPS
my KH sometimes drop over 1 point per day, CA will drop from 460 to 420~430 in a day =_=
plus i'm short of budget, hand dosing every single day, adding lotzzzz of different kinds of supplements to try to make the system stable, and water changes every week.
does anyone know where can I get the cheapest auto doser? or any DIY ones?
Thanksss!~:D

If you are dosing everyday and you know the amount you add you could set up a drip for cheap to dose over the day. BRS has a youtube video of a drip they set up for dosing. I think its on the page for their formula 1 calcium alk page.

you'll need a bigger tank soon. that anemone alone will grow to 12" diameter.
Hmmn....I know @@
I'm saving money to get a 50G, everything is outgrowing so fast, :D

I bought this brown coral for $5.... turned neon green after one month.... SCORE!
Yep!! I bought that brain for like $15~$20, it was brown color, now is bright red with some greens and lavender color in it

Thanks!!, haha...yea,ppl always don't believe my tank is 18G and with some crappy equipments, ppl always think I photoshop it =.=
I think Low end, crappy doesn't mean anything, as long as you pay attention on your tank, do everything slowly, in the right way, then you can do it ^^

Thanks for your advice, I checked but I'm not sure if that's the one you talking abt, a dripper, but I still thinking how to work it out @@ since I can't mix the KH and CA at the same bottle 0.0

What is the name of this coral please?
That's a Tube Anemone

you can try dosing kalk with your ATO to stabilize your levels..
T^T I don't even have a ATO...hand dosing, and adding water everyday....
everything by hand....
I'm planning for my upgrade pretty soon.... :)

Sorry I read what I wrote and it was not very clear. What you can do is get water bottles or cleaned out pop bottles or anything similar for your alk calc top off water etc.. As long as you can situate them slightly above your sump you can use a section of air line hose with a control valve to drip each of your bottles into the sump over the course of a day. The doctors site actually sells the hose for drip acclimating livestock and they also have an example under dosers.

You would start the siphon drip or put the tube into the side/bottom of the bottle so you don't need a siphon and adjust the valve to drip however much you mixed for the day. Its obviously not an exact science but you would have to play around with the valve to get the right ammount of drips over the whole day.

Once you have figured out where the valve needs to be set to drip all of your stuff over a whole day (may take a couple days to weeks to figure out) you can then mix up enough for multiple days or a week to reduce the amount of time needed for dosing/ top off maintenance and make your set up more automated.

JMO but might make life easier and did I mention it was cheap? you will still have to dose everyday at first as you are now but instead of just pouring it in the tank you pour it in the bottle.... then adjust valve settings for longer durations so you dont have to dose everyday. I hope this makes sense?:worried:

Wow...Thanks a lot for your information, lotz of typing too.:eek2:
I get what u mean now, so after I find out the dosing quantity, then I can mix them up and drip them into the sump.
I think what i'm gonna do is make the drip as slow as possible, then find out how much water will be drain in a day, they I can add those supplements and multiplied the quantity, make be make for a whole week or so @@
Thanks a lot !!!

exactly.... its better to start slow to get an idea of how long it will take to drip the appropriate amount. You don't want to mix up enough for a whole week and have it drip in two days. That could ruin all your hard work so far.
