Fish For Brains

In Memoriam
Local guy want to trade his 3 pairs clownfish for my Wyoming White pair. How i find out values of all pairs to be fair trade?

His pairs is black & White(laying egg), Pickassos(no egg yet), and Onyxes(laying egg) for to trade for mine WW pair thats just start lay eggs.

Advise??

Yeah I was just about to say that. 3 Pairs? Well it depends, what do you plan to do with 3 pairs of Clowns? I still don't think it's worth it.

(1) Unless they are actively spawning, they aren't a pair. Two clowns that don't kill each other doesn't make a pair.

(2) Any change to habitat may disrupt spawning behavior, in some cases permanently - particularly if the female gets mad at the male. Trading pairs means that you are taking a big risk that they might stop spawning.

A pair of clowns is worth what someone is willing to pay for them - nothing more nothing less. If you know ANYTHING about captive raised clowns, the quality of the fish is more important than the TYPE of fish. A perfect pair of Picassos is worth 100x what an "ok" pair of Picassos is worth.

Not to mention you would need 3 separate set ups for these clowns, copious amounts of time to raise the babies if they did resume spawning. Raising a brood fom one pair is enough for most people but three, no thanks, no matter what type.

WW vs....

WW vs....

prices for animals...
unless you are only wanting to add a stellar pair (or 3) for breeding and selling purposes......

i, and most people, keep fish is because we love it. this is especially true with clowns imo.

what should determine their value for you is based on two things.

1. how much do you like your WW pair?
2. how much do you like the others that you are being offered?

if fish are a business for you then this will not apply, but if they are simply your passion then it's about what your heart *or head* tells you.

if you like your WW but are growing tired of them then it might be a good chance for you. if you love your current fish then keep them!

Value and worth, like beauty, are generally in the eye of the beholder. I would not trade my original pair of false percs for anything.. What exactly is it that makes having the 3 other types of clownfish so appealing? If you were to sell your pair you could purchase any of the others (really only safe to have one pair per tank anyways) and have some funds left over..

LMAO! I guesses everyones hads their favorites clowns. I likes these a lot so I ams going to be keeping themto see what babies llook like before I think abouts trading them. Thank for all the inputs.

raise a clutch or two and try and trade your next gen ww's for some other interesting clowns if thats what you're in to. If you're not planning on breeding em, theres no point in tripling your clown pop with mediocre fish compared to what you've got. If you plan on breeding em have some patience and milk the WW teet as long as you can, then branch out to other morphs imol
