150G Rimless Macroalgae Tank

I am using a Canon Rebel Xsi with a Canon 100mm EF macro lense. I shoot in RAW and process the coloration in CS5 afterward.

Got my Radion hung and hopefully I set the program right so it automatically do sunrise / sunset and moonlight and all that. I messed up a little bit.. it's too near the edge of the tank,but look like it's giving a good coverage, might try to move it a little bit.

Oh and a FTS w/ my phone for you guys, please excuse the mess. I'm still in the process of moving all the SPS out of my tank and putting everything neatly

Guess the FTS didn't work, retry. I noticed today that there's alot of cyanobacteria (red slime) on my sand / rocks / and some macros. I figure this was because of me removing rocks / stirring up sand and whatnot, look bad and I get algae on my glass in about 2 days now instead of 7.

Hopefully this dies down soon, I'm gonna keep on dosing vinegar / vodka to help keep the nutrient level and bay while still allowing the macros to survive.

Some of the gobies are territorial, I've had some death so far. But probably because I've been doing stuff like messing with the sandbed and other thing with the tank, hoping to get it stabilize now.

Some pictures I took on my day off, I'm battling cyano and other algae at the moment. Added GFO and dosing vodka / vinegar to keep the excess nutrient down.

The Thalassia will die back some, anyway, but you should be able to salvage at least some of the shoots. They will appear to be completely dead for a while and then suddenly send up shoots. Out of the 3 individual pieces shipped to me, none had rhizomes and I had one shoot survive. Not the best odds, but at least one did make it.

I don't have a strict feeding regiment yet. Mixture of nutramar ova / mysis / cyclopeeze / plankton / live baby brine shrimp / live phyto / oyster feast / rotifeast/ reef frenzy.

Hoping to get some NPS in this tank soon. I'm actually debating a sea apple, I don't think I have anything that bothers sea cucumber

Thallasia can be a tough one, I never did suceed with it, which is odd because it dominates most coastal environments where I saw it in the Keys. Yours seems to be doing OK, it will take a long time (months) to find out if it makes it or not.

Halodule a very good grass for tank cultivation IME: establish fairly easy and resiliant. The thin and moderate-length blades also a better fit for most tank aquascapes, IMO.

Those pipes look fat! I got a gulf pipefish as a "bonus" with a plant order from Florida but couldn't keep it alive. Yours look to be doing well.

Thank you! I am using the 100mm macro lense from Canon.

The pipefish have plenty of pods to eat in the tank, I feed the tank ALOT.

The turtle grass seem to be doing ok, there was die off initially since I didn't know not to mess w/ the root. I had one rhizome that didn't have any blade, it grew and there are 3 blades about 4", others are growing as well so that's a good sign! I am getting some manatee and shoal grass shortly I hope, I am trying to find stargrass though it's tough.

Hoping to have some really cool stuff in next week, one of which might be a Sea apple!

Been looking for seagrass myself, have been told by a couple of places that they won't have any available until spring. Been told by a couple of places that they'll no longer carry it. Really hope to find some for my seahorses...

Very nice tank. I wish I could find any sea grasses in Canada. I was also wondering if that was a sea apple? I heard they can nuke your tank if they die.

Yup it's a sea apple. I don't have anything in the tank that would cause a problem for the sea apple so hopefully it will be fine, if in 2 or so month it's still fine, I might get another one.
