I had a similar quandary when setting up my 540 and moving things from my old 300..... didn't have fish terrorizing each other but needed to QT dozens of fish and keep them alive while they were being QTd waiting to move them into the new setup....I decided to keep them in the old 300 and turn it to hypo and let them stay right in that setup as I didn't have a large enough QT with enough active biological to keep them alive in it for 2 months while in hypo as I wanted no hitch hikers moving in to the new setup.....that was not fun keeping up with water changes everyday to keep ammonia levels down from all the die while waiting on the bio to catch up....took it about a week of a small cycle but it was a success though as they all were parasite free and made the move to the new setup....just stay your course and dont rush it though, if anything borrow a fish trap and get the bad guys out....have a good holiday....
