a simple sps tank

I'm sorry your lost your achilles. That's a fish that I've always wanted but never owned. Good luck with your cyano battle. Other than that, your tank is looking great! I've mentioned it before, but your layout is very nice. Beautiful tank!

Sorry about the fish loss. :(
Thanks for the support mark:beer:
I know it might sound stupid but unfortunately i get too attached with every(3) achilles i've had.
I wanted to get one more but i think i'll do it in the new tank.

Bummer man...BigBalls shall pass into legend....
Thank you for the support matt buddy:beer:
I was pretty sad for a few days but know it's ok.
Sad because it was my mistake i lost him and i shouldn't use copper right after furan2 or make that huge WC.
I learned something but it cost BB's life.Ah,it's in the past know.

I curse cyano! Been there plenty of times in my old tank, eventually siphoning will get the job done. In my current tank I dose this...

http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=28146

It's a bacterial additive so no antibiotics in the water. Seems to work for me in my current system. May be worth trying....they make a larger size too.
Me too my friend,i hate it:(
At least once a week i siphone it too but it does nothing permanent in my case.
I'll give it some more time and keep up with my routines.

Thanks for your suggestion,it sounds good,i'll look into it:beer:

Looks great Mike looks like you're getting good growth.
Thanks dan, really glad you like it buddy:beer:
Still has a long way ahead though:(
Yeah that growth troubles me since i'm battling at the same time, with that cyano mess.Hope it will go away soon.

Thanks for the support my dear friend!
Achilles is my holly grail and i'm so happy and lucky that i've owned three of them,in the last 10 years.
Unfortunately i've never owned one,for as long as i wanted.I'de be happy with at least five years but the furthest i got,is almost two years:(

Really glad you like it and i hope one day it will be as beautiful as yours:beer:

Been wondering how you have been doing? Hope all is well with you, your tank is looking great, sorry about fish loss, you will bounce back in no time...
Regards,

Sorry about the loss of BB. :( Thats pretty sad news.

I hope the rest of the tank is getting better. With the Cyano, I just let things run their course. I dont take any aggressive action. Maybe check NO3 and PO4; if either has strayed from its usual level that can be the reason.

Sorry about the Achilles! They are tricky fish. But so beautiful.
That cyano is a pain. I'm with Sahin. But it's a good idea to cover the basics- what Sahin said and maybe source water as well?

Man your corals have grown . I had cyano so bad when I first set up my cube .That is when I removed my sand bed and went naked bottom. Wish I had the magic answer for you. I hate that stuff:mad2:

Really sorry you lost BB Mike :( The display looks amazing though, it still looks like creepy hollow meets acro scaping and has to be the coolest spooky reef i've ever seen - i mean all that as a compliment btw

Sorry to hear about BB mate :(
Your corals are looking good mate, just keep plugging away my friend because your on the right track! Wish I could aqua scape like you buddy, it's awesome!!

Hi perry, thanks for your interest buddy:beer:
I was caught up with work and enjoying summer time:-)
Everything is good,thank God.

Yeah BB was a big loss but tank must go on.
Sorry about the loss of BB. :-( Thats pretty sad news.

My no3 and po4 are 0,as usual,no change there so i can blame that.
Think i'll follow your path and let it run it's course.Hope things will improve.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and advice!

I was really sorry too matt buddy but now i'm getting back interest in my tank.Sometimes i think that i love more having an achilles than i love "reefing" in general:p
Yeah they are tricky for sure, still can't get where that bump/pimple came from:-(
Urchin, coral, something else sting or internally? No clue!

Did check(and thanks for pointing that matt) my RO and tds reads 001.
For the last two days,i can say that there is slow improvement though.Hope it continues that way.

LOL,wish you could magically help me buddy!Hate that stuff and that fight with GHA recently, left me without courage to fight it manually and no willing,to spend hours dealing with it.
Wish it'll get better.
Yeah some corals have grown a lot and what impresses me is that cyano, not only didn't delay growth but since it showed up,their growth rate improved!
Maybe what feeds it,feeds corals too.

Really sorry you lost BB Mike :-( The display looks amazing though, it still looks like creepy hollow meets acro scaping and has to be the coolest spooky reef i've ever seen - i mean all that as a compliment btw : thumbsup:
Thanks for the support andrew:beer:
Really glad you like the scape mate!
Hope it will stay nice as the corals make their own scape while they grow.
Like the way you put it...maybe i'll change the titlle to "a simply spooky sps tank" lol

Sorry to hear about BB mate :-(

Thanks mate,it was sad but now it's over.
Hope i'll get another one soon but in the new tank, not this one.
Wish i could reef like you and the other guys above:thumbsup:
Really happy you like it my dear friend:beer:

Thank you very much guys for the support:love1:

Really sorry for the late replys guys:(
I managed to "unfollow" my own thread and as a result,i missed your posts:hmm5:
My apologies!

sorry to hear mike, really sucks, the MI looks the goods in there i must say.
Thank you so much buddy, for the support.
I must sound a bit dramatic when i say that i still miss that fish but that's the truth:(
I had decided that i'd buy a new Achilles, only for the new tank but i couldn't do it.
I went today to buy one, that has been at a lfs for almost two months....and guess what....they sold it yesterday...lol,my luck!
Maybe it's for the best:)

Yeah the MI is really nice.It has grown bigger and is a model citizen.
What's happening Mike, hope everything is still doing spookily my friend ;-)
Hey andrew:beer:
Everything is good. That cyano pain is still/always there but i siphone it every week and i combine it with a small WC.
Corals are growing spookily good and if i manage to get rid of cyano(especially on sand),tank will make me a bit happy again until i get my Achilles,so i can be really happy with it lol

He's out diving with a snorkel and mask trying to catch a new achilles tang.
Hope all is well, Mike!
:inlove::inlove::inlove:
You put a really big smile on my face buddy and made my day!
I just pictured it and that would be soooo aweeeeeeeeeesome!!Not catch one but only swim with them!!.....dreaming now....:o

Everything is well matt buddy:beer:

I'll post some pics but please don't expect good ones, you know me lol

And some random and off course bad pics:p
I found(that means i really really tried) some spots where i could do a couple of "brancing".
You can see the new spots with the totally white branches.I glued on them some corals that where really close to other and where having "war" problems:)

Some miserable efforts for close ups

Do you guys ever shape your corals?
I just did it with a couple of stags and this mille. One of it's branches was growing on top of the coral on the right,so i cut it and glued it to another branch. So no more shading and now it will grow to the front of the glass(at least i hope so,lol)

Thanks mark buddy:beer:
Really glad you like it!
It has a long long road ahead of it but i hope it will get there one day. Also hope that day will be "cyano-less":p

Meh, cyano. My corals look better whenI have it. :D

Great new pics, I do love the scape and the idea of coral shaping. I've glued some larger broken branches back and that does seem to work well.

Now all you need is some post processing of the images. :lmao:
