A Smart? Aquarium in Taiwan...

Be careful with that hand. I've heard some horror stories. Reefmutt has a good story about that actually.

It's cool that your LFS let's you help out... I work at an LFS and it would (and does) drive me insane when clients poke around in the boxes when I'm unpacking an order.

Tank looks amazing though. I love the mature look of it.

Corals and particularly the colors are looking beautiful mate, the display looks wonderful my friend

Now i know why one of my feet is always bigger than the other - acro poisoning........

Shih, I'm very curious to know your opinion on the kessils. They look like very nice lights..

Over 20 years ago, I worked in a pet store and was responsible for unpacking coral orders. On one occasion I had a very small cut on the tip of one finger while unpacking. I didn't even know the cut was there until I was finished unpacking the corals and realized that my finger was very swollen and was throbbing with pain. I assumed it was the salt water irritating it so I washed my hands and took some Advil.
Well, it hurt so much over night that I had trouble sleeping.. I tried to ignore it during the following day at work but it was very swollen and very painful all day.
That night I noticed that I had a red line running up my arm from my finger to my elbow. I didn't know what it was but I knew it wasn't very good...
I took more pain killers and decided that if the red line moved any more up my arm over night, I would call the doctor in the morning..
Well, sure enough, in the morning, the red line was almost up to my shoulder and my finger looked like a hot dog, so I called my family doctor..
I told them what was happening and they told me to come in right away...
When I got there, the receptionist jumped up and ran to get my doctor who was seeing another patient.
He needed only a second to see that I needed to be at the hospital right away.
Luckily the hospital was only 3 blocks away from my doctor's office, so he told me to go straight there and they called ahead to emergency to let them know that I was coming.
When I arrived at the hospital, there was a ER doctor and an infectious disease specialist waiting for me in Emergency...
They debated cutting open my finger and giving me intravenous antibiotics but in the end they only cut it open to drain it and gave me two types of antibiotic pills to take.
After 24 hours, the red line was almost gone.. Luckily the antibiotics worked!
I got lymphangitis, which is an infection of the lymph system.
The lymph system, I learned, is sort of like a body wide 'drainage system' which helps rid your body of infection..
Another day and I would have gone into septic shock, apparently..
It was all very exciting. And my finger ached for almost a year after that..
And for some reason, I still jump at the chance to unpack a coral order!! :)

holly cow!!! Now I am a bit worry... fully recovery after a year!!!
I also took some antibiotic pills for three days, the swollen part is disappear, but I can still feel a bit different than normal.

Thanks guys for your advice and experience. As Reefmutt said, it did not change my mind to help unpack a coral order, but more careful and wearing gloves a must.

Damn. I'm glad you're OK. Experience learnt. I'm better be careful to unpack corals from now on:cool:

I have to admin that LFS run more professional in US than in Taiwan, at least my personal experience. In Taiwan, there are more interactions between customer and LFS owner, but not a good way I like. Unpack coral they did only allow selected customer to help, but I am not sure that is professional (even as a customer, I enjoy it), and some LFS even accept customer used live rock, that... never heard when I was in US. That to me is a very bad thing (or maybe re-use live rock to save earth !? I don't know...)

Beautiful pics as always! You list 12 GHL dosing pumps, what are you dosing?

I used to have 16 heads, but found some solutions may not suitable to dilute so I changed back to manually dose some. Currently, I only use 9 heads such as K+, Ca, Mg, Alk, Zeovit Start3, Zeovit PIF, Zeovit B-Balance, Zeovit Xtra, and Brightwell Iron. Basically those daily dosing and able to dilute. Others, like only use twice a week and/or have to shake before use, I dose them manually.

I think you're more likely to have the LED fail than the ATI, but at least you are covered. My lit ATI sunpower fell in the tank and was halfway submerged. I pulled it out, dried it off, replaced a couple bulbs, and it turned on, no problem:thumbsup:

Wow... Thanks for sharing. ATI under a winch and accidentally fall into water is one of my big concern when go rimless open tank. Good to know it won't cause any fire and chance that ATI complete damaged. How about your fish and coral, any bad thing happen when ATI drop into tank?

I did plan to buy another ATI T5 fixture as backup plan, but consider LED maybe the future (!?), and since I got un-resisitable price, so decided give it a try.

Shih, I'm very curious to know your opinion on the kessils. They look like very nice lights..
"¦..

Will definitely let you know after I set it up, my friend.
Before that happen, most interested me are its dense matrix and not focus on show off LED color and thunder mode etc...oh... and its only one cord design for power and control, so my tank view won't be damaged too much.

Finally, the old DC Red Dragon main pump was replaced by a 2nd AC Red Dragon pump. Ya~~~

That reduce my concern of recent baby snails all over tank issue.

Got my two units AP700 on schedule. Have no time to play with its APP, and I heard it only available for iPad, not even iPhone !? shhh... then have to borrow one from my wife.

Screw size (left: original, I think it is a M4, middle: M4 316, right: M3 316)
More likely I need longer M4 to screw into my frame design...stay tuned...

New toys, i like new toys.......... :)

I bet you wish i lived nearby so i could mod those new lights for you - i reckon if i opened them up i'd see lots of stuff that i could tweak :reading:

Cool!! Looking forward to seeing them fired up!

I did fire it up yesterday, and man!!!....my wife immediately complained that was way to bright... end of I turn down intensity to 6% to play around. I will set it up this Sunday. Will see...

I am buying your ticket to Taiwan now....Haha
(actually, it was OEM in Taiwan and someone I know used to work there)

I was a little surprise it only has iPad APP at this moment and I have to wait still for iPhone and Android APP.
Its Wifi connection work great with recommended option "direct connect", but very lousy (even wrong instruction) with connect via router option.

Be careful, Shih! Journeyman Biggles has magic hands. He may turn those lights into a rocket ship! Your wife will NOT want twin rocket ships in the house...
Probably won't want Andrew in your house either.....

So, at 6%, can you see them in the tank over your regular lighting??

Nice toys. I'd defnitely not allow Biggles to modify them...knowing him he'll probably connect the auto top off line into the fixtures...to make lightning/rain/clouds and smoke...

Maybe we should let Biggles modify them. He might even connect your stereo HIFI system to them and make your fish and coral dance...how nice indeed!

You just give me a shout if you get stuck integrating those new lights into your system Shih, don't let these electrically challenged goofballs put you off

Mom said i was fascinated with all things electrical from an early age - in other words i was a gifted child :)

Whilst working at a wind generator farm many years ago my supervisor refused to believe that i could improve the efficiency of their turbines so i proved him wrong when he was at lunch.

Just prior to their obviously poorly built turbine exploding they recorded a MASSIVE spike in electrical output from that particular unit - i rest my case :smokin:

Haha...That is a good reminder. Ticket canceling....

Since AP700 will shot from an angle to the outer side of rock that my ATI can't even reach, so I think it still be see. However, I think I will turn to 15% to 20% to start with when put it to its permeant position.

I may borrow par reader from friends to check later.

Is the case big enough to fit a couple of halide bulbs?

It won't fit single-end halide since it is very flat, but sure big enough for one or even two double-end Halide.

Now I have to file Restraining Order and not allow Biggles even close to me.

Mom, I found my long lost twin here....

6 years ago I burn my tank, plus little accident 6 months ago on Apex, I am not allow to use my own talent to modify any electricity device. Biggles, you should set the same rule.

Seems legit:thumbsup:

Coming soon....my enhance lighting system to fix tank two sides PAR reading too low and inappropriate shooting direction problem.

One more step closer to complete the project...

Dry run today, we put AP700 top to ATI fixture... Everything looks fine except we found a few places we need twist a bit to finish the project. Major issue is either 15 or 10 degree angle, current frame design will leak some shimmer when wife sit on sofa (that have to solve to avoid my life in danger)"¦"¦ but thank God we quickly finger it out if raise AP700 2cm higher, then ATI fixture will help block shimmer happen"¦ So"¦ Some new 3D printing parts needed..

Sorry for the mess of power cable, since it is just a dry run, so I did not fix all cable together and make them look nice.

Stay tuned.....
