Build Thread!!: Going from standard 120G to custom 200G

Canopy is painted and ready for holes for fans!!!

I will have 4 SilenX 120mm fans. 90 CFM each with only 18db of sound. SilenX fans are managed with a controller that allows you to ramp up each individual fan as you choose. Current tank has 3, and you bearly hear them AND I dont use a chiller.

GLASS OVERFLOW SOLUTION!!!! Foam/Rock wall on each side of the overflow. This will cover the overflow, hence avoiding the visibility of PVC pipes for return and overflow. These will be sealed with silicone on the overflow.

The next step with these will be to epoxy some sand and aragonite to cover the foam. THis will give it a more natural look. Even if all isn't covered, coralline will take it over. :)

You cant see in pic, but the one on the left extends 3-5 inches out, allowing corals to be mounted on it. The one on the right is barely seen as its sits towards the back.

Never tried Mylar, but i recall the mid 80's we tried aluminum foil, and trust me, salt water did not agree with it.

Now that brings back some memories, both the foil :eek2: and Mylar. The Mylar actually works pretty well. Used it to line the hood I made for a 20L many years ago. The Mylar outlasted the wood :D I don't have to tell you how the foil worked out

Yea Bill. The youngsters laugh at the aluminum foil. Reflectors?? What?? What's a reflector?

Looking good eddie. Will have to take another field trip over there when it's done and established. The wife and daughter loved ur wife and my little boy loved ur dog.

Eddie its looking great if I'm free I'll defiantly come by to help, also I like the overflow cover idea...... I actually though maybe later once your take grows and recovers from transfer you should attach some encrusting coral to the overflow.

Also bobby way to make a really great looking canopy
The paint job looks great also

Silver- Ive thought of that. My concern is that foam holds up its integriy as long as the skin is not penetrated.

I have tons of cyphestrea, but dont know if it would break the integrity of the skin as it expands. :(

Ive seen others use GSP and it looks great, but im terrified of GSP and its ability to spread everywhere uncontrollably.

great idea for the overflow- tonga branches with lots of ledges from big to small is the way to go.
Moving along nicely.

Its always nice to enjoy someone elses build and not have to do it yourself.

BTW I DONT MISS the tank- well maybe a little lol

Eddie why did you decide against the coast to coast? I was thinking coast to coast as well but now I'm going to just do herbie style in my original over flows... Mainly because I did not want to patch and drill my tank

A Few more Pics!!

Over flow covers with sand covering most of foam.

Bobby moves in with the big drill

Hole being drilled from my "frag/equipment closet" outside for water change drain. Mind you that closet sits under my stairs so the distance is approx 5-6 feet, and ends in a brick outer wall. So some heavy duty equipment was necessary.
