Heteractis Magnifica Propagation- 30 minutes ago in my kitchen!

Before I cut a Magnifica, I would have condition him until he is really well. This is about the only thing i would do different than you if I am going to cut mine. Hopefully this Magnifica will heal and do well. Please keep us post frequently.

I definetly agree, I'm taking a chance. He had a small issue, but I nipped it in the butt pretty quick so he didn't really go down.

I was gonna wait about 2 more weeks to do it, but he was looking so good I just decided to chance it. He was eating really well and healthy, but could have been healthier had I waited longer. I'll keep you guys updated daily.

8:45 am update:

Still doing well...did 90% WC and dosed.

I couldn't help but to think where in the world I would begin to frag this monster.

Hmm, I don't really see a good place. He would be difficult and a lot thicker and it would take multiple passes to get him in half. He's sold anyway, so no worries. :-)

After lights out, they both balled up.

I have a feeling that if this cut doesn't heal up quickly on this one that it's gonna get infected. Hopefully not though.

Thanks for the positive words.

If you know a mag, we still have a long long way to go. I know things could get real bad very quickly. I'm pretty shocked it hasn't happened all ready.

This is just the beginning and until they both get a well formed mouth in the middle and start eating again, im gonna continue to sweat.

Nah you got this  Seriously though I am surprised as well.

It take several days for the wound to come together. Will see how he does in a few days. Larger anemone and one that in good shape will tolerate the cut much better IMO. Both half seem to be doing fine.
Remember I got the R one :)

Those are looking good. You seem to be doing the right stuff Reefahholic.

Trying to take a lot of pics and document well that way we can all learn and y'all can help me notice or pick up on things that I might not see or realize.

We have a lot of experienced Nems keepers here and many of you have seen and witnessed different things. I'm hopeful that with the experience between many of you, that you guys can help me keep these two alive.

Please feel free to give opinions and suggestions when needed so I can care for these two better.

Using MJ 1200 for flow. Talk about great water movement. Depending on how you bounce it off the glass or how high/low you have it makes a huge difference. I have a ball valve for flow adjustment when they're too sick to hold themselves down.

Running an Aquaclear 20 for addition help with flow and water quality. It catches a lot of the crap floating in the water.

I think the title of this thread is premature.

I would title it "cut my mag in half". Propagation assumes a high rate of success.

Not trying to be negative, but I give you a 50% chance of ending with at least one. You won't know anything for about 6 weeks. All anemones when they are cut in half will look like yours - even gigs. I can't begin to count how many "fragged my anemone" threads there are on this forum, and everything looks great until about the one month horizon, at which point the person disappears and we never hear from them again.
