How not to build a 750/1500 gallon build thread-Khaosinc 3/5/71-8/30/11

One of these days... There's only a couple people I like well enough to let them in my house... and they are not very local. Hopefully over thanksgiving weekend Tim can come up if his wife will let him... rumor has it, I'm a bad influence.

i will tell you it is frustrating not to be able to do things . all those people who are able to , and sit on there arsses and do nothing it makes me sick . never under estimate the power of lazy... then there are guys like you and me who can't do the things we like to . i would kill to go back to work . i hope you start feelling better kev . keep us posted . better days are on there way .

I know that feeling... I live pretty close to the saw mill I used to work at... I can hear it running night shifts again from my house. That was my shift...

Anyone have an opinion on a puffer in a reef tank? I have a huge snail problem anyway and the Dwarf morray hasn't made a dent, so I doubt it could, and the triggers haven't managed to catch the shrimp, so I think they are smart enough..

I have at least 1 in there, and another is going in as well..

the issue is that I need to take the 300 down.. I suppose the Angel and puffer can life in the swamp for now.. he seems to ignore softies and thats all I have left in the tank so I can't figure a problem.. other than maybe mixing it up with the 'nem

I'm not sure I'd chance a puffer. I've seen them do a number on other fish.

Actually, I think the cheapest long term way to cut down on snails would be to add a bunch of hermit crabs. They will "evict" quite a few snails for new homes and won't cause you headaches down the road.

That approach worked for me, ive witnessed quite a few hermits ripping snails out of theyre shell and eating them and then stealing theyre shell

Theres hermits in there, and I think theres some crabs.. The idea is that I don't want to buy anything, I am wondering what would happen if I put a fish I already have in to the tank.

Guess I will stick with putting it in the swamp./

Khaosinc why are you taking the 300 down?Hope you ate too much on Turkey day. MIke

Hoping to downsize the system.. but I can't do the work to take it down.... The fish are in there, but I can't see more than that.

LED system is still sitting in the living room... I can't get the lights down, and put the new ones up... my legs just don't work very well any more.

I did however just make it so I can see in the main tank for the first time in ages.... I don't seem to have lost any fish.. Several of the Zoa's and all the green open brains, but I suspect someone is eating them.

Actually got around to testing and Salinity was sitting about 1.020, so I have been bringing it back up topping off with salt water as high as I can get it to mix. Suppose I should watch that occationally as I still pull several gallons a week and top off by sight. Suppose I should be happy the pics I'm about to post...

ok.... try 3... keep timing out...

Zoas that don't taste good apperentlly...
