I-Tech Skimmer Club .

Like most i-tech owner I also thought my 200 skimmed better with a dirty neck. Until I started running bio pellets. Then I noticed it skimmed better clean. The last couple weeks I've been looking at the neck cleaners or what ever there called. But I like the fact that I have the carbon lid for my skimmer and don't know if I could deal with the smells this skimmer produces.
While out the other day with wife we stopped at 99 cent only store. I found a cheap queegie and some epoxy, for the price couldn't beat trying a DIY project. With a few extra things in my junk box here u go.

scrap acrylic cut it L shape... Maybe a buck worth.
Tube of epoxy res..... $0.99
Few scrap plastic bolt from some old rio mounts.... Nothin
A 1.5 rpm mottor off a broken frig ice maker....... Nothin.
And about 5 hours of my time.

That's awesome...heading out to the garage and rifle through my "boxes of stuff" now.

I have everything on the list except the motor. However, I do have a 1/2 hp pool pump motor...hmmm....Binford 2000 wiper!
Thanks.

So my swabbie has been running for 4 days now, and the neck looks like I just cleaned it.

Also I'm really happy with how much better it's skimming. I even had to adjust the flow through the skimmer. It was skimming to wet.

Need quick help. Not having much fun searching the thread. :(

After about a week of running awesome, suddenly the bubbles are only going half as high as they were and not reaching the cup at all. Water level is the same. I'm using filter socks, so there shouldn't be any large debris getting into the pump. ??

forddna try boiling some RO water and remove the air tubing from the silencer and let the pump suck it in this should clean the venturi and solve the problem. Or the pump has slid over and is touching the side of the sump. Or you have something wedged in there also.

Nothing wedged, and it hasn't moved. This is weird. It's getting bubbles into the collection cup this morning. All I did was pull the pump out of the water, remove the air line, and let it drip dry upside down. I had just put it back together and fired it back up when I posted my question because it appeared to be the same still. But this morning, it seems to be working!
