Leonardo's Apogon Reef

I was in love with your past tank... Your current display is awesome as well... Love me some bare bottom...

Leonardo, the corals should come back nicely. What "trace elements" are you dosing, and in what amounts? Also, I did not see a skimmer in your hardware list. Are you currently running one?

Congrats Leonardo! Long time my friend :) Simply Beautiful... Your tanks, all of them, have served as an inspiration to my style of reefing, particularily with sps, also a fan of Robertus too :) Good luck, always great having a chance to view your art...

Glad to see you back Leonardo. The new tank is stunning as always.
I only have 3 apagons right now but I am going to order more Soon.

Do you prefer the Red Sea actinic to the ATI actinic?

Glad to see you back too Leonardo, your thread is one of the best ones to read!
The new tank looks awesome as always.
Look forward to more updates! (with pix of course ;) )

Looks good................what are your plans once the acros start getting larger?

I'd like it even better if you dumped that brain or whatever that is on the right.......it looks out of place.

Love the fish selection.

thanks for sharing! this is a very inspiring aquascape.

Did i read the specs correctly ... no skimmer? Just GFO and GAC

i have two mp40s on rc at 100% and a tunze nano modded and i still dont think its enough flow for my 90g.

how much effect does the flow play a roll in the coral color?

Good, random flow is very important for overall coral health, and in my experience corals color up better when receiving proper flow.

I also was waiting for this update of the project ... once again you have not disappointed!!!
You can get a picture of the sump? I'm surprised that you do not use any means of settlement for bacteria in view of the little live rock used .... not used either bacteria or add any carbon source?
Thanks

Thanks! I'll try to post a picture soon. Because of the large skimmer (BK Supermarine 250), wet skimming and fast nutrient export I don't need a lot of bacteria to process any nutrients or detritus. I do not use any carbon source.

Hi Leonardo

Nice to see you back. The tank looks amazing. Did you modify your scaping since those pictures taken above?
Are you still running the BK skimmer?

Kevin

Thank you Kevin! Yes, I still run the BK Supermarine 250 and still very happy with it. The pictures are taken yesterday so the aquascape is still the same ;)

I'm using Tropic Marin Iodine and Seachem Reef Trace. Next to that I'm using Balling Trace Elements from Fauna Marin in small quantity.

Glad to see you back Leonardo. The new tank is stunning as always.

Thanks Nick, the Red Sea was readily available in the LFS, so that was the main reason for me to go with those. I will order some ATI Actinic when I replace them to check the differences.

I just let the acro's grow out ;) They have plenty of room around every colony, and light spread, flow etc is prepared for growth of the colonies. I had more reactions about the braincoral. I've had it for more then 5 years now, so it will be hard to say goodbye. But I agree, it is a bit out of place in this setup.

I forgot to mention the skimmer in the equipment list  I use a Bubble King Supermarine 250 and skim very wet. It really is the hart of the tank when using the BB methodology :)

And everybody else, thank you for the reactions and compliments! As I said before, it is good to be back here.

Leonardo, I've followed all your threads from the the 1st Formosa Forest. Your tanks always have a very clean, contemporary, artistic look to them. IMO, I love these tanks the best. Looks like you've knocked another one out of the park! Very Nice, I'll be following along once again.

the architecture is fantastic. I prefer sand but it looks great the way you have it. nice collection and arrangement of corals too.

wicked nice job Leonardo!

Not available to many people maintain a healthy aquarium with this only. :crazy1:
How long the tank has been running?

Leonardo,

I have been waiting a long time for your thread here. You have delivered impressive tanks in the past and i think this one will raise the bar even higher.

Anxiously waiting for further updates...

very nice!

Thank you.

Thanks for the kind words, they mean a lot to me. It has been a while since FF1 but I'll think I'm on the right track again :)

Thank you! I worked for a long time selecting, growing out and arranging the corals for this tank and creating the right aquascape. And it is still an ongoing process.

It can be done when you follow the BB methodology. The tank has been up and running for about a year now, but the aquascape is just recently in its current shape.

Yaahhooo! I love watching your work. Is that a small pile of sand in the back corner for your Halichoeres Chrysus? I'm currently bb also & used to have 3 Halichoeres Chrysus in my sand days-- they were super cool. I know some people put a tuperware sandbox/bed in bb sometimes for sand sleeping wrasse but I don't really have a good hiding spot in my tank for anything like that.
