My 240g FOWLR

Both my regals ate good this morning and swim around never even look at each other! I hope they stay this way !

There is redsea regals for about $68 that's cheap! I just order me one and a sohal tang for about $70 Both my regals are eating and doing fine so far! Got me a declivis butterfly he is eating & doing good also! I got 3 butterfly's in my 55 gallon QT one has ich I'm trying CP instead of copper to see how it works! Peter let me know when you put your regals together! I think you will be fine!

How is your Moorish Idol? How would you rate the level of care the MI requires compared to the Quoyi which I believe you had previously said eats a ton along with the MI? I assume they get along well? How is the Quoyi with the tomato clown? I ask because I remember the pic you posted of your Quoyi not liking your red shirts I believe it was? Your Quoyi is a stunningly beautiful fish!

My MI is fine, coming up on 2 years soon. Once established it'll eat anything, but it is very sensitive IMO/E to psychological factors, you might say. It easily gets stressed in the wrong conditions (small tank, aggressive tank mates). This quickly turns to insufficient eating, which for a fish that requires so much food, can be detrimental almost instantly.

I wouldn't say the quoyi eats a ton.... for its size, I'd say pretty average. The MI and quoyi ignore each other, as does the quoyi and the clowns. The clowns particularly hate the rock beauty and a couple of the small butterflies though :)

Thanks for the compliments!

I can not agree more on the MI having "psychological issues". I lost mine of a year in a very short time period due to some bullying issues I didn't catch quick enough from a queen angel fish.

If they are comfortable though, they can be rock solid and they do eat just about everything. I had mine in a 120, which was just not big enough-live and learn, sadly at the expense of the fish.

Easily my favorite fish though, I have every intent of owning another one as soon as my 240 is up and running.

Hey Peter I got a mitratus butterfly had him 3 days eating like a pig! I want a tinkeri if I could find a deal on one!

My Mitratus eats like a pig as well, but I can't seem to fatten him up. It's actually starting to worry me.

He's still in my QT and he's been through two rounds of cupramine and one round of API general cure (metro/prazi).

Absolutely eats like a horse, just won't gain much weight. I have increased the feedings from 2/day up to 3 - 5 / day.

I'm debating putting him through a round of just prazi, but I hate medicating a fish I "suspect" could have an internal parasite.

Yeah, it's a quick treatment too, so I can at least eliminate that initially. Are you feeding yours anything that helped to fatten it up. Mine is mostly just interested in mysis. I've tried getting it to eat pellets, it's just not interested.

Peter, how large are both of your regal angels? Also, how long have you had both?

My only fear is that they have been with you long enough and away from other regals, that they are potentially both male. Typically doesn't work out to well even with a size difference. I've heard rumors that Centropyge species are able to go from female-male-female, but not exactly sure how true that is and even if it is if it can happen in other angel species... It won't hurt to try, just introduce them to each other when you're around to keep an eye on things and separate if things get nasty.

Is he still eating?

Didn't make it...just really frustrating to lose a fish that had been quarantined and been through two treatments of praziquantel and two of cupramine.

Still have no idea what did him in. I think things started going down hill while my neighbor watched my tanks when I was on vacation, because he was fine when I left, but just not right when I got home.

The strange thing is that he was eating really well the whole time, but just continued to get thinner and thinner over the past several weeks.

Once the heavy breathing and side to side swimming motion set in, I knew there was little hope of him coming back.

Sounds like maybe amonia got a little high! I had a Burggus butterfly doing that way I did a quick amonia test and it was high did a very quick 50 percent water change and he was fine! I know how ya feel loosing a good fish! I read where these fish are very hearty! But stuff happens

Ammonia was fine. I have a seachem alert badge in the tank and it read zero. I also have a Borbonius anthers in that tank which is just fine.

I don't think it was an issue of environment, still a mystery. I all most did an autopsy this morning, but didn't feel like cutting open a fish that had recently been my pet.

Sorry to hear he didn't make it. Sometimes an individual just doesn't adapt and survive. My first try with a declivis ended the same way.
