Melev Said,

Not to hijack guys, but I had a quick question:

I have a Milwaukee ORP and PH controller. I don't remember seeing in the directions NOT to submerge the probes.

For the first month I had them submerged in the sump. Didn't think I was getting the right readings so I moved them. They are currently hanging on the overflow with the tops out of the water.

After seeing this, now you've got me worried. Did I damage the probes by submerging them?

Thanks

I've never had an issue when the probes got wet on top, but I too have read it. I guess occasionally it causes a problem, so by stating not to get it wet, the mfg covers their assets. :)

RED ALERT!

RED ALERT!

Water in the sump! Maybe a day and a half to fill the sumps and another half to fill the skimmer too? BOING!

I better get to work! :D :D

Plenty of salt on hand. :D I have enough for 2.5 complete fills and expect to need to change out the entire volume once during cycling.

1 inch and the sumps are full!

Kent E: I am not using an o-ring. Take a look at the 4th photo down on the previous page. See the skimmer? It has a 1/8" red/orange gasket.

Good to hear.

Now get it stocked....:D

Speaking of getting it stocked, what is your plan for the tank Jonathon? Are you going to try a biotype tank or something else?

Brian

I don't have an exact plan really. I want to mimic MI but I won't be rediculous about it. I also want to reflect a wild reef moreso than a "Picasso" version of a wild reef. I am much more into symbiotic relationships native to reefs so that is something I will focus on.

Got a WEAK response when I announced that my tank is up and running so I can only guess that is because there were no pics! So here are a few....

This is just the initial rock I got with the tank and only somewhat arranged to reflect the aquascaping plan.

Thanks! The controller seems overkill to some but it really saves money by getting a lot of monitoring and controlling abilities in one unit that costs less than buying a bunch of different pieces of equipment.

The only major negative I see is that if it goes bad, everything goes bad. I am not sure how customers or Neptune deal with that type of situation but I hope to never expereince that. With all the design I have done, the lack of redundancy in control is probably the Achilles Heel of this system.

Looking Sweet.....

Do you plan to leave a lot of open space? as opposed to filling it to the brim with rock?

mostly open space with a curved valley starting on the right and going toward the center. Then curving out-of-site to the right again. Much like oregonreef except that there will be more open space.

I am planning a wall to the left side of the valley and a sort of rolling plain to the right side. Maybe like a plateau with an average height of about 1 foot.
