Really nice! The one thing I wish was different in my monster is to have a "tapered" neck like that. Mine is ab abrupt 8" to 4" change which I don't like!

Again, great job!

Thanks guys. What is interesting is that the tapered neck is actually easier to make than stepping down in tube size. It's just a flat piece baked in the oven and pressed into shape. No angles, cutting, or gluing required!

And BTW, I am now past the diatoms and into the heavy hair algae stage! Most of the macro died off but I see a lot of new buds popping up. A lot of the color on the rocks is gone also, mostly because of algae. The turbos are working over-time and I keep moving them from the refugium when I can. Those snails rock! I watched one clean 4 feet of pvc today...and I do me CLEAN. That snail didn't miss a spot! :)

So below I have pics from this morning. Also another ineteresting story has developed and I wasn't going to post about it but I could use some suggestions. A couple days ago I lost a gold ring while working in and around the tank. I assumed that it fell off in the refugium because I had been moving sand around trying to get a PH set up correctly. Anyway, after sifting through it several times, no luck.

And then I remembered the "Hand Incident". I have a memory problem from my stroke. What happened was I was moving rubble around in the outbound sump and got my hand too close to the return pump inlet. It sucked my hand right into it. of course I ripped my hand away in shock, but didn't think about the ring. My son was there and I had too many distractions. So now I am assuming it went into the system and the question is, where is it now? Anyone have any advice on how to find it?

maybe I don't "need" a needle wheel? LOL...I can only imagine how sweet this skimmer would be with a NW!!!:eek2:

Maybe the ring is in the intake to the pump, caught on the internal strainer? Gold won't affect your livestock as far as I know, but it would be good to find it.

Arrrr - there's treasure to be found, mateys! Look one, look all, but mark my words, the treasure is mine!!!!!!!!

LOL...is there a strainer in a Hammerhead? I'll have to look at the book. My other Sequence pumps don't have one.

My guess.... Either lodged in one of your gate valves or inside your spray bar....

Is there a prize for he/she who guesses right???

 Ordinarily I wouldn't worry about it but I had this ring custom made. It's the only piece of jewelry I wear besides my wedding band and the only thing I have bought for myself. If it's in the spray bar I am screwed!

Honestly the snorkel is not a bad idea. I don't want it "lodged" anywhere though because that will attract other things to be lodged and I could get up one morning to a serious mess.

Make a loop with your airline just like you did with your water line. As long as the crest of the air line is higher than your water level, it can not back flow through the air pump. With power off the water would equalize in the air line at the same height as the skimmer body.

I would be concerned about a leak in the skimmer. If you had a leak, that water volume would not be safe anymore. It is time for the emergency overflow sump, or as you said. Upgrade to larger sumps. :)

Dale, you worry too much! :D You have got to come by! I know I need larger sumps but that wouldn't be living dangerously now would it? See, if I had larger sumps I wouldn't need to check on the reef every 20 minutes...

Well there are some good ones coming out of Australia for sure, but I don't have any on hand right now. I only have ones from Portugal and ones I made....the ones from Portugal are better!:D

You know I didn't realize what an ecclectic pic that was...with the port, chocolate, acrylic & PVC glue and clamps!

Well considering Port original came from Portugal it should be the best. I agree it is. I was there a couple weeks ago and induldged in some but sadly didn't bring any back!

Any luck on the ring?

No luck on the ring but I haven't really put any time into it. Spent 1/2 hour vacuuming up skimmate this morning...it's unbelievable how much this thing is pulling out. It's too wet of course, but I am just glad to be making some coffee! It will take a while to tune the flow but right now I have the Hammerhead slightly choked. I think I am getting around 1000gph through the skimmer right now, but that is based soley on looking at the outflow. I don't really have a way of proving it but I know I am getting about 4000gph through the tank and about 1/4 is gong into the skimmer. I would bet that Dale could actually calculate the flow.
