Sad Day Indeed

I feel real bad for all the people that had gift certificates, items on order etc. let's face it, I'm a bussiness owner, and things don't happen over night! They knew and choose the dirty way to leave their employees and patrons feeling screwed over. Sucks!
Details will make things easier too swallo, but you don't get evicted over night!!!

Actually it was.you have no idea what happened.

no matter what, the PC crew were next to non. by the look of the document its a shame that this happened to the crew and there families. and im truly sorry.

Sorry but I don't see how something like this could happen overnight and the owner not know thy he shouldn't be taking orders and money from people when he might not be able to delivery on those orders. They had to know something was going on. I'm not talking about the employees I'm talking about the owners

yes its obvious the owner new.

This store was my favorite destination whenever I traveled through West Hartford. Truly sad for all the employees. I bet the inventory probably will be liquidated soon, so whoever lives in the area please let us know.

i just wanted to say thanks to all the pc staff. they have always treated me well even before i was on the forums. great people all around. i hope you all get back to work soon. sure is a sad situation.

so NOW the LL owns everything>?? I never heard of such a scenario where he grabs the business stuff based on disagreements>?
There has to be a SERIOUS bunch of circumstances to have that happen>??
Or am I missing something?

None of us know the facts. I am not an attorney, but if PC filed for Ch. 11 bankruptcy protection back in April, 2012 (note significant back rent liabilities) and was unable to turn things around then it is not unusual for creditors to receive post bankruptcy assets. It is easy to paint the property owner as a 'scum bag', and some of them are, but as a LL who had problems years ago with tenants who felt that rent was optional, I know how difficult it can be to evict somebody.

Ok. Can we end this. At least as a public debate. PC was a great store. They treated us well. Arguably the club benefits an d generosity impinged upon their fiduciary responsibilities. We should be honoring their contributions rather than debating their deficits or issues. I am troubled by the prospect of their abscence as a store and collection of great individuals.

As an administrator myself, my message when problems arise is really a question posed. Is it a behavior or character issue? On a consumer level this is really simple. You know the answer from our experiences. So the next question is its not so much about the mistakes but how you recover. I have good confidence in the later.

Well said Kyle.

In terms of the club, PC was our bread and butter, they were our club sponsor. When we needed something, we called joe...that MP10...PC...those fish and inverts...PC. Countless gift certificates...PC. The thousands of pounds of salt in our tanks that were given to us at near cost...again PC. The after hours events where these guys literally ran around filling cups with corals and bagging fish...PC. I've only been a member of the club for two or so years. Every store event I've been to has been at PC.

Whatever happened has happened and can't be undone. There is too many things being said that is tarnishing a store that has supplied us hobbyist for years.

I know I'm gonna miss them, but I'm still hopeful that they can either come back at a new location or still be present in our community. The knowledge and support that was given is second to none.

Thanks again everyone at PC, you've made my experience in this hobby more than enjoyable.

I can't believe it!!! I went there yesterday around 3:30PM and saw a hand written note on the door that said "closed". I thought it was weird - but chalked it up to some internal meeting or something....

What will happen to the livestock while all this is getting decided???? I would certainly be willing to volunteer some of my time to help out.

Very sorry for the employees and their families -- truly bummed.

Terrible. My thoughts go out to the staff. It's no fun to be out of a job, I've been there. Hang in there guys.

Well said Mike and I absolutely agree with your opinion here.
