Who got this Magnifica from DD?

I dont understand the thinking on how less water would be better? Anyone who can explain the logic behind that?

A few reasons:

(1) Clown anemones can withstand being out of water for extended periods of time (days). Scientific studies on other inter-tidal anemones suggest that as long as they can stay moist, the limiting factor appears to be build-up of wastes in the anemone - rather than lack of oxygen.

(2) The less water you have in a bag, the more oxygen you can put in it, and the more room there is for carbon dioxide to disperse before it reaches toxic concentrations.

(3) Water is extremely expensive to ship. It is much more affordable to ship inverts in bags with as little water as possible and as much oxygen as possible - as long as you can manage temp.

Since it appears that is does not want to attach did you get a good look at the foot for damage/tears? Just curious.

I did. It appears to be clean. I investigated it a bit more just now and see that it has attached to the egg crate "frame" that is surrounding it. So, at least it's starting to attach.

I'll snap more photos if/when it is in a more favorable viewing position.

Cheers

I'm hoping it pulls through. Based on the photo it looks like a nice specimen. The green tips are a lot brighter than I've seen on other mags (mostly yellowish tips). I've also noticed that most purple mags don't photograph well -- the purple turns into a drab brown. Assuming the green is correct, and the base is purple, I think you've got a nice one!
