LED Tank with reefled.pt illumination

Hello everyone,

I am glad to share with you this new tecnology. Clean, cheaper and more powerfull.

My tank has: 150cm lenght - 60cm width - 70cm height.

Illumination (reefled.pt):
  • 3 cannon 50W 12000K
  • 2 cannon 50W blue 450nm
  • 4 PAR38 15W 5C

My experience, has showed good growths and colors as well.

Hope you like it.

Regards

Filipe Valente

hmm

hmm

So would it be safe to say that when dealing with the lighting and sps everyone should have A light meter? I just got mine and look forward to getting my led's next year hopefully they will have dealt with the lack of refraction and apply a cool mini reflector like the ones used on the metal halides just mini. So one must have perfect water , lots of flow , awesome skimmer and lots of Par for sps to grow along side some type of 2 stage dosing or multiple water changes to keep the numbers in check po4 no3 etc..awesome tanks cannot wait to have one with thriving sps once again...

You only need to borrow a par meter but in my opinion knowing your lights and mapping your tank is a must. I was killing a lot of frags until I learned my tanks hot spots and low spots...

Not too perfect on the water.... The only sps that grew when my nitrates were zero was purple stylo and green birds nest. Everything else turned tan and lost all its color.... Once my nitrates were about 1 or 2 ppm everything began to turn around. So not too clean IMO....

Has anyone actually found/used an led that will bring the same colors out as a radium? Im sure its out there.......

It's not.. Trust me... It's not

Only reason I'm going bak MH is a radium bulb and the fact I'm not too worried about spending a little extra a month on MH. I like LEDs just I like beautifully colored dense sps more.

I think there isnt a problem keeping sps under leds. It is easy to bleach SPS under leds if you dont accilmate them though. Here's some of my SPS under four radions g1 with tir lens and a kessil 350w

deepwaters do fine to just as long as i keep them lower in the tank

Some unknowns that are doing good also

i ran a home made led set up on my small tank for the past 2 years.... my lps seem to love it but my sps seem to bleach out especially the montis so i havent really kept sps lately. i just switched back to a 250 20K XM because i want sps again... you can really tell how focused the LEDs are compared to the halide. my LED set up 24-3W Cree had very little light escape where the MH set up my whole room now is as bright as day lol....

i can see how the LEDS are very focused i mean i ran my LED set up at 50% blues and 25% on whites and still would have to be careful when acclimating new corals.

I think LED can be done just have to mess around with the lenses used and like mentioned just use a par meter to figure out the high par areas of the tank and try to place corals this way.

As for now im going to run MH and see how i like it again.

Thanks, I went with the Evergrow fixtures. They are rather inexpensive and good quality will good led bins. The cheap price allows you more money to buy a few extra fixtures which solves the coverage issue with leds. The fixtures that I have have all three whites, both blues, green, red and voilet. The color with the blues up 20% higher than whites reminds me of my old T5 blue + combo with 1 aqua special and 1 purple plus.

Can you provide your evergrow template? That would be great!!! Wonderful looking tank!

Awesome pictures. Do you have a FTS?

Would love to see more success!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would love to see more success!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would love to see more Led Lit SPS tanks. I had a mini crash over the summer but things are now back on track. I have also noticed much better color improvement turning the white channel down to say 20% and maximizing the blue channel to 100%. These pics are taken today Nov 3rd.

I have 3 Reeftech LED fixtures....each fixture is comprised of 24 Cree XP-G white 7K, 24 Cree XP-E Royal Blue and 12 Cree XP-E Blue (total of 180 watts per fixture). I have been playing with the intensity of each color group for as long as I own them....around 2 yrs....(currently at 40% white, 75% royal blue, 70% blue). I have been able to maintain SPS but did not exhibit a noticeable amount of growth. I recently lost the majority of SPS due to high phosphate levels (which I had not been montitoring). Anyway, the question I have is: what is the consensus on color spectrum regarding thriving SPS? In other words can SPS thrive utilizing the spectrum listed above or is supplemental LED color spectrum required, (ie: 660nm..red, 500nm cyan/green and 410 to 420nm violet etc). I may have experienced non-growth due to the high phosphates but the problem may be two-fold in that the spectrum is lacking......

I have evergrow fixtures with 4 660's, 2 520's, 4 420's and a mix of whites 4K 6.5k and 10k and love the color that the corals reflect back. Growth and colors have been great. I noticed an improve in deep coloration with minimizing my whites / full spectrum to 20% and my blue/violet to 100%

I dont think the lack of full spectrum in your fixtures would kill the corals and would lean toward water quality but the additional LEDS do bring out certain colors.

Hi guys,
I am setting up a new 65 gallon SPS tank. My thread just happens to be under "Lighting, Filtration, and other equipment" and the title is "Reefbreeders, Hydra52 DIY LED or Razor".
I have been in the hobby close to 30 years and have had many tanks. I do tank servicing for a living, and recently installed 2 sets of Reefbreeders Value fixtures to 2 different tanks.
Both have had excellent results with them! So, I am waiting for my new ReefBreeders Photon32 fixture to arrive. It will be going over my new 36x18x24 65 gallon tank!!! WHOOHOOOOOOO!!!!
In my honest opinion, many make them wayyyyyy too complicate on here! I own a Apogee PAR meter so I will be mapping my tank out here very soon.
The Photon32 has from 218-240 watts of output. What do you guys think???? I am thinking it's going to be a boat load of power over my tank!!!
I am pretty darn excited, and the fixture is schedualed to arrive on Friday.
You all have wonderful looking tanks! Congrats! I will be following this thread closely and asking tons of questions.
Thank you
