How not to build a 750/1500 gallon build thread-Khaosinc 3/5/71-8/30/11

Just read the entire thread, and have subscribed. Very inspirational story and tank!

Too bad about your luck as of late, here's hoping it turns around.

Just sp people know, I edited Tinks post (above) and replaced it with my own.

I think I will spend the afternoon cleaning the tank and doing a water change, then spend some money I don't have on some things to put in the tank. That should make me feel better.
What ya get? What ya get?
Please.....Please take us back to a better place, and post some frickin pics already. Jeez you would think you had some blood clots or something with all this slacking going on.:eek1:

Well, I'm home

Finally.

Unfortunetly, when I went to talk to my boss, apperently they are thinking that I now have ended up in the hospital 3 times since my surgery that maybe I shouldn't go back until I'm cleared for full time work. That was SUPPOSED to be tommorow before this happened.

I'm starting to think this tank project is cursed. Everything started right after I ordered it. I'm half ttempted to give up, as stubern as I am this is getting way past stupid.

I do pretty much have my arms back, doc says it might be a month or more before my legs stop hurting and I'm not sure I can get released to work before that.

Hang in there, Khaos!

My tank suffered greatly after I had my second child in 2007. It got worse near the end of 2008 after my third in November 2008. At one point I told my husband I was ready to pour in a gallon of bleach and forget the whole thing. Surprisingly, he talked me out of it. Because of builds like yours, I was inspired to persevere through my own tank issues. You and your tank truly are an inspiration to the rest of us. Just putter through it where and when you can and your tank WILL eventually come together. We're all here to cheer you on!

Sunny

finally got to the end where i can post... prayers and blessings to you K and Tink... an enjoyable read and well deserving of a TOTM (regardless of naysayers)... get well soon!

As hard as it may seem at this point, perhaps you need to get on board with the medical profession and stick with their recommendations for a month or three? I know it goes totally aginst your nature, as much of this thread proves, but keeping on down the path you're on and the prognosis don't seem that bright, man.
We need to see you finish this tank, and the only way that's gonna happen is if your breathin', every day.

this message is for rumlad , he could have done everthing the doctors said and it would have all turned out the same.
Give him his broadsword and beer and lets kick some A$$!
No really lol Take care of yourself K QUESTION those Dr's MNSHO (My not so humble opinion) is that if you give the body what it needs it will heal itself. There are exceptions but for the most part this is true. I haven't met a Dr. I trusted in 20yrs. MNSHO.
Hope your feeling better man. Say Hi to Tink.
Peace

Feeling fairly good. In my opinion, if the doctors had listened to me and let me go back to work already, rather than being stuck sitting around as an overpaid security guard I would never have had issues with blood clots in my legs. But then who knows in the end. They are still sore as heck, but I can walk. Now if they would just let me work.

Finally ordered my clean up crew tune up from reeftopia. The survivors from my original 220 were just not cutting it. Also took a crap shoot on a pygmy angel becase... well I was having fun clicking.

I took the money that some of you have so generously donated to this tank (and me), added some I didn't really have and got some things coming that shoud cut down on my algea issues a bit. Coming hopefully wednesday will be:

75 Turbo Snail [astrae]
18 Cerith Snail
100 Nassarius Snail
14 Emerald Crab (I can't help it, I love these guys.)
75 Blueleg Hermits with 48 Transitional shells.
10 peppermint shrimp
1 Harliquin serpant starfish
and of course the little pygmy Angel.. I know *Usually* reef safe. we shall see, its not like I could ever catch it once it goes in..

Should be a busy wednesday afternoon...

Kind of a one-way street with adding critters to a tank that size. :) There's just about no way you're catching anything remotely speedy once it goes in there.

Reminds me of when I had surgery for a collapsed lung. When I came out of surgery I was insistent that I wanted to sit up and the nurses would not let me. Later the doctor came by and I again told him I wanted to sit up but the nurses wouldn't let me. The doc told the nurses that they should have let me sit up. It was the best thing for me. Most patients don't want to, but if I wanted to sit up, get me up.

Not sure whether your being more active would have been good overall or not but inactivity certainly can be a risk factor for blood clots.

I personally would be a lot more impressed with Doctors if they didn't so often try to play God and admitted when they simply don't know. At the end of the day, they are people and half of them are below average. Below average may be good enough when dealing with a snotty nose, but it certainly isn't good enough for what you are going through.

IMO a tell tale sign is if they don't want you getting second opinions. The good ones are secure enough they don't worry about that.

I was fortunate with my lung; I had a very good one.

Not that I wish to keep this thread on a side topic but...

If we were talking about recovery from a tonsillectomy, or a gall bladder op etc.. than I would agree. Hell, I even agreed about 60 pages ago when K was struggling the first time. But at this point it seems like the consequences (and yes, the consequence here could be death) might just change the game a little more the fourth time around.

Enough with that, Khaosinc, make sure the camera batteries are fully charged for when the package arrives, we need to see pics of the whole process.

Also, would you mind posting up the link to your website again (if you're going to re-open the account), as some of us might like to donate once again, now that you're laid up again ;)
