How not to build a 750/1500 gallon build thread-Khaosinc 3/5/71-8/30/11

hippos again. Whats the deal with the 'yellow belly' is it just male dominance, or is it a seperate type. I've heard both

004-2.jpg

Actually the yellow belly hippos are much harder to find and sell for double or triple more than the all blue ones.

Alias K, I have a job for you. I went back to the beginning to check out that awesome virgin tank, and to see some tank pics again. Well, looks like half the pictures are gone!? Can you make up another Pbucket account and re-attach them for us excited fans? When you have *cough* time, and seriously when you feel up to it of course.

Benn watching since the first post you had, if I wasnt unemployed living alone, I would have dropped something in the bucket, but you know how that is, sucks royaly scratching for everything you got. Anyways, Havnt heard much comment about how your feeling and what your seeing in the mirror. How are you doing, whats going on with ya??????

yea, I tried to "organize" my photobucket account and I must have broken a mess of links. I'll see if I can put together a quick summery tonight maybe. I was playing in my tank last night on and off. Didn't even manage to fall off the ladder this time. Finally got everything that didn't survive the 'fiasco' out of the tank finally and pulled about 100# of rock out of the display (not that you can tell.) Also moved a couple powerheads from the sump in to the display to help with some dead spots.

As far as how I'm doing... well broke, bored and frustrated pretty much sums it up. Still can't walk very far and they are trying to talk me in to more surgery on my legs, the tremors driving me nuts, and the meds are worse. Still waiting on hearing from SSI, no idea how long that takes. I still cant reconcile in my head that I don't have the body I had a year ago in my head. Every time I forget it I get a pretty harsh reminder for a couple of days. I lose my insurance from work at this end of this month as well. Not sure what to do about that as I'm apperently not elegable for most of the basic resources as I apperently have too many "assets"

on the lighter side I think the tank looks a little better. If I can get a friend to come over I'm hoping to get all the light fixtures down, clean them and replace several of the bulbs. I really need to get the 6500K bulbs out from the left side of the tank.

its weird how many fish are actually in there, and how empty it looks. I need to get a shot at feeding time

I also watched a pack of narsissios (however you spell them) snails terrorizing astpasia at feeding time. you can kind of see one that they were abusing before (about 1" in front of them) moving on to the one they are on now. I assume they were after food, but the 'nem didn't seem to recover either.

All caught up....

All caught up....

Glad to see you are ok. Tank looks like it is coming along. I don't even know you and you had me worried and praying. Glad to see Tink is still by your side. One hell of a good woman you got there. Peace be with you my friend. Prayers still sent from AZ.
:mixed:

not the upgrades yet, With any luck the 250 gallon Fuge/planted tank should be a reality next week sometime. but I was playing with the camera and I did pick up some new palys/zoa's so I figured I should update this thread. Hopefully get another 1000 posts eventually...LOL

I know, I need to clean the glass again.... I hate doing it. Hoping to get a bunch more marco rock and take most of the sand out for the fuge (assuming it comes through)

I appologize in advance for this POS camera...

I'm a sucker for $2 frags... cool blue rimmed palys with green streaks

004-5.jpg

one of the frags from aroradver (some name like that anyway...)

007-3.jpg

another rock of mix and match Zoa's.. Only been in the tank a few hours... most aren't open yet obviously..
005-2.jpg

the one from a few weeks ago is doing well...

008-2.jpg

Annoying little brown ones are also doing well unfortunetly..

The Sailfin was constantly trying to get in the way of all the pics.

010-2.jpg

someday I'll regret those little things I bet... but for now I'm planning a softy tank...

013-2.jpg

024.jpg

The rest of the pics suck... was hoping to catch the Betta out but couldn't get a decent pic through the 1" acrylic at an angle...

Nice update photos. Next time you have the camera out, I would love to see a full body photo of the fire clown (if possible). I don't think I've ever seen one before. Is it really as two-toned as it looks in the above photo (darker middle body with lighter fins and belly)? It looks pretty cool. I'm glad you are able to enjoy your tank again after all the health issues. Keep up the good work.

he is, they may have a more proper name but thats what I was told when he came with a tank I bought from a guy who was shutting his down... had to go in the way back machine to find any pics... he's camera shy. Tough as nails though.. been through at least a couple of tank crashes with me, and one from the PO

and just because I finally found a pic of the Betta...

actually, I was right on the name.. I'd love to find her a mate and taking a run at raising em.

She takes one side of the tank, the paired up clarki and maroon have the other. There has been eggs, but nothing ever materialized out of it.

not that anyone really reads this thread anymore but hell, It gives me somewhere to run up my post count...

Project 1: I'm lining the inside of my hood with a roll of mylar that I picked up. I'm so gonna get a knock on the door soon. Hi power lights ordered, Mylar (used in grow rooms alot) ordered, fans ordered, water filtration stuff ordered...

Project 2: new moon lights. I was tired of the set up I had and picked these up to play with. I figure I can spotlight the corals that lumeness under actinics and have light to see the goings on in the reef tank at night. I have 12 of the 21 LED spotlights

016-1.jpg

my turtle was subjected to me playing with it. No other lights on in the room.

013-3.jpg

the random Zoas I picked up are all open now.. I'm so gonna name them something like cocaine speedballs and sell them for $30 a polyp...LOL they really are white.

006-3.jpg

one of the rocks I picked up from a local reefer closing down his tank. Some homemade deal in an oysyer shell. don't think it will stay there.

007-4.jpg

some cool orange rimmed zoa's I really need actinics on this side of the tank. I took my old LED set up off, but haven't got a new one.

018-1.jpg

the Linka was harassing the Zoas... My water isn't usually that cloudy I was cleaning the glass for the first time in a couple of weeks..
005-3.jpg

random toadstool I also got from the above mentioned reefer

008-3.jpg

and some more.. They fell off where I put them.. haven't bothered to move it again yet.

011-4.jpg
