Whenever i'm snokeling in the bay near the inlet and i see a banded rudder fish, i tend to get a little nervous. Not because of the rudder fish itself, but because i typically associate them with large offshore fish. I often see them clinging to the hull of the boat when we go sharking.

I've been hearing more reports than usual from fishermen about large rays being hooked in the bays and inlets between jones and shinni this year. Have you seen any? That could shake a deuce loose if your caught off guard.

tuesday I went diving. I saw many tangs, I only caught 1, they are fast. I had two firsts for the year a banded butterfly and a reef butterfly. I did not want the banded but I caught the reef. I also caught a blue angel, damsel, and cowfish. I anyone likes to try out spotfish butteflies there are dozens.

If anyone here has some extra angels or short big eyes they would like to sell please shoot me a pm. I am looking to stock my tank with a few and won't be able to get back out collecting this year due to a health issue.

Justin,

I hope to get out this weekend, if I get either of them there yours. I can't keep them in the reef anyway. Do you also want the butterfly's?
Hope everything is ok?

Walter

Hey Walter,

Thanks for the hook up if you get some. I have no interest in the butterfly's. Hit up my phone and let me know when your going. If im around i might tag along and help from the beach.

Regards
Justin

the angels are in my reef tanks. 1 is in there three years now.

Not taking any chances. I put a very small butterfly in my 125 and he just about killed all of my paly's. It took some time to get him out.

What type of Angels? I wonder if anyone has ever seen a French up here?

Justin, you got it...

south side. been thinking about checking out the north side. they are blue angels. I know of one french spotting years ago at fire island inlet, I've yet to see it though.

Was over there a couple of years ago netting when I stepped on a huge Ray sunbathing. He had to be 4ft across, needless to say he freaked me out and my boys wouldn't go in the water the rest of the summer.

Water should stay warm for another few weeks. It was still about 68 to 70 yesterday in Shinnecock Inlet. Getting out of the water with the cool Northeast wind was another story

Tom,

My understanding is the North side of the bridge is fairly shallow until you drop into the boat channel. However, I've never jumped in there myself and am only going on hearsay.
