I took a look at it last time I was there, when we moved the 500 in. Looked better than when I had picked it up. I love the coloring on it, just wish I could keep them. Won't be buying anything new any time soon. Hot water heater broke, and 3 of the 4 bulkheads leaked on my tank. I also have an outbreak of bubble algea in the 65, my refractometer is on the fritz, I slept through the kids waking up today, so spent the day cleaning. That is for another thread though.
Seems like he is moving along quite nicely. Now it is just matching the stain colors to actually match. I would do a test run of it, see if you like it or it matches up. If not I would suggest going a little bit darker on the stand, and gloss it up with 3 or 4 coats of poly and give it that real shine, plus protection.

He is getting that done pretty quick. I love the Um.. Can't think of what it's called now. Kreg jig?? I can't remember. They are nice. Good strong hold to them.

The brain I got from the RAH auctions as I just love brains and candy canes. I just can't get them to live. The first brain I bought I thought the wife and kids would enjoy. It was white on the inside with a bright pink rim. Paid $50 for it from someone on craigslist, and it just slowly declined, which was sad. I figured with differnt circunstances I would give it a try, but I am just doomed at that part. Good thing I only paid $30 for that one. Maybe when my headaches of noting going right, (do they split or can be fragged?) Years down the road if possible give me a chunk back to try. So I can see how it works out.

Sorry about triple post earlier. RC was acting really odd and kept timing out and I could not see the new post.

We are not going to stain the wood. Just a clear varnish. That is all that is on the floor, there is so much character in the wood it should look the same.

I agree on the no stain. Wood has enough character from the looks of it and will compliment that wood floor well. A coat or so of Poly and your good to go. Are you using any special kind of Poly that is better suited for moist areas?

My dad has Hickory molding in his house with just a clear lacquer on it, and it looks sweet. i cant wait for the look of those doors with any type of finish or shine on them!!
