I'm not sure if this is an issue related to the new firmware (latest version on this thread), but for some reason I lost the ability earlier today to access ACIII remotely, either by going straight to it through wireless router and putting in 192.168.1.50 in the browser address bar or trying to get to it via my DynDNS-based address.
The Belkin 10-outlet surge suppressor I plug a lot of my stuff into crapped out on me (yet again!) some time last evening and the main circulation pump ran off the TrippLite automatic inverter until it bled the 12 volt battery dry. (The ACIII is powered off of another circuit, so it stayed on.) After that, the tank sat still and the water temp dropped significantly, until I discovered the problem this a.m. and got things going again. The ACIII had been sending out temperature-tripped alarm emails for quite a while, but they stopped getting sent some time this a.m. but while the water was still at a temperature where they should still have been getting sent. I did not notice that immediately, but only after checking emails later on and seeing that the alarm emails had stopped some time prior.
Furthermore, while changing stuff around on my system, I tried to access the ACIII remotely to control the various devices, since that's easier than doing so through the ACIII unit directly. As noted above, however, I was completely unable to do so. I was able to control things using manual control by direct access to the ACIII, just not remotely. I use a Netgear ethernet extender to put the ACIII into communication with my wireless router. All led's on each wall module of the ethernet extender were lit, indicating there was communication between the components plugged into the modules, and the green and the amber led on either side of the ethernet jack on the ACIII were both lit (green pulsing, amber solid), which I believe confirms communication, but I simply could not get access to the unit remotely (even after unplugging power to the ACIII and plugging it back in).
Finally, I unplugged the ethernet extender modules from the wall, unplugged the ACIII, reset my cable modem and router (cycled power to each), then plugged all back in and turned back on, and now I have access again. As noted above, I’m not sure if this is related to the firmware, but thought I’d post this experience in case others have experienced similar issues.
