NOW IN STOCK: AquaMaxx ConeS CO-2 and CO-3 Protein Skimmers

I'm getting a 340g on monday. 75g sump so roughly 350g total volume. Would you recommend the EM500 or 600? I like the dual pumps with the 600 and 2500 L/H vs one pump and 1500 L/H on the 500. Thanks

You could go either way IMO. For SPS coral and ultra low nutrient, the EM600 would be great. Conversely, the EM500 is plenty strong enough for a full mixed reef tank of this size.

The footprint for the EM600 is 17" x 15" and the body diameter is 11.8" (30cm).

Just got my CO2 from MD. About to run it in some vinegar water for a bit. Have a part in the box that I can't figure out. Its about 2" long, white plastic, sort of in the shape of a bone. Squared on the ends but narrow in the middle. It has a screw/hole in the middle, same as the one you use to attached the silencer to the body of the skimmer. Any idea where this goes? I don't see it in any of the pictures I have and it isn't mentioned in the directions.

We're not sure (yet), either. Would you mind posting a photograph here or emailing one to us?

We don't typically monitor message boards over the weekend, but we do have a crew in tomorrow if you don't respond today (Friday). Just give them a ring (number below) and ask them to check the email you sent for the photo.

We look forward to solving this mystery, Watson!

Sure. I'll send a pic. Or I can suddenly attach so here it is.

I am stock between the EM-200 and the CO-2 for my 125 SPS heavily load. Any advise which route to go because both have the same pump and LPH???

Thanks in advance...

how do these compare to the reef octopus line or the vertex?

From my personal experience, all three are excellent brand names of pretty much equal quality sharing many of the same features. Both Reef Octopus and Vertex offer a few different models falling into different price ranges so we would have to choose a specific one to compare apples to apples.

Usually, I take a look at the pump in order to tell which will be a better choice. A quiet running, well manufactured pump is what will make or break a skimmer for me. AquaMaxx skimmers are using Sicce brand pumps which have gained a reputation for being quiet and long lasting. This is one of the main reasons I use an AquaMaxx on my own tank.

Feel free to follow up if you have some more questions as we are happy to discuss further.

The performance is pretty much the same as well. The footprint is the big key difference here with the EM200 measuring 6.7" x 9.8" and the CO-2 measuring 7.5" x 15" which is a pretty big difference, especially in a cramped sump area.

The CO-2 does have a unique bubble plate that will reduce turbulence even further when compared to standard bubble plates and it just plain looks cool! :beachbum:

Thanks.... I will be measuring tonight my sump area. Actually you already got me scared because my sump is a 30" long and the height space available is 26" but will have to measure the clearance between the sump tank and the door area to get it in. Seems tough for the CO-2.
