Scrapz's Ultimate Gamble 3x3 SPS Cube

I just wanted to take this out of context for a minute and smile. :smokin:

The best part of having wiener dogs is getting to work "wiener" into conversations:) Add to that we have a wiener named Woody:lolspin:

@sahin

Just a single Jebao RW-15 on W1 @ 100%. Everyone said it was going to be too much flow, Ithink it's still too little flow. Going to add 2 RW-8 on ELSE mode to randomize the flow more.

@galukos

Thanks! The frag on the floor is just a photosynthetic gorg like this

. Deep purple body and adds a nice motion to the tank

@fredfish

She's been fairly idle the past day. Poor kitty is traumatized

@Myka
I knew someone would make something out of it, just didn't think it would be you :lolspin:

@mhucasey

I'm sure that was unintentional ;)

That was his name when we rescued him and both my wife and I just giggled...Woodrow Wilson the wiener:)

What's one to do when he has no way to measure the effluent from his calcium reactor?
He makes his own with whatever he has lying around. I took a pee cup I received a coral in, the flange(??) from my ph probe holder and got to drilling. This is what I ended up with after my second attempt. The first cup not pressurized correctly which caused the drip to stop after a few hrs.

Curious Cat?

I have a cat too buddy and that curiosity bought her a ticket out of the tank room...permanently :)
One day i found her trying to catch the fish which where feeding from the algea clip...the weird thing was that they were not scared and went back again to eat some more.
Can't decide if they were hungry,stupid or brave:p

Nice vids:thumbsup:

So it been a few days since I posted and a new problem has risen. I moved over a few fishes from the coral qt tank into the mai display and 2 of the tangs are displaying ich. I dont know whether I got them from 2 qted anthiad I purchased from a reputable store or if they came from the turbo snails I purchaded from a less reputable store. Either way looks like I'll be setting up a qt tank just for the fish.

Anyone have any advice? Ive never setup a fish qt before and have been lucky to get healthy fish. Im looking to qt a 2x 3-4" tangs, 2 anthias, a falme hawk and a clown. Would a 40g breeder be enough?

I always feel the bigger the QT the better, especially with multiple tangs. When I did my upgrade I had a few temporary tanks set up, including a 55 gal and a 40 gal, both were loaded with fish. I didn't lose anything, but had to do a ton of water changes. It was clear that most of the fish were stressed but in the end, they all made it. Best of luck!

Feed them 3- 4 times per day, rotating between pellets, frozen Mysis, garlic brine shrimp, and if you can get them, California black worms. You can feed them healthy, no joke. I don't quarantine anything in my system and some fish like my Powder blue tang developed ich spots that went away with good nutrition. Use garlic to stimulate appetite if they are finicky.

@cfloor
Thanks for the input. I have two tanks that i could yurn into a qt, 40br and a 20l for backup. Hopefully my fish make it through, theyve been with me for years.

@mhucasey
I'll be seeding a sponge over the next 4 weeks so I'll be doing the same method you described. Ive done it for years and its worked great but this time around im introducing some pricey wrasse, need this tank free of parasites so i dont have to wonder what if..

All my fish are swimming happily and eating. The yellow tang has shown less ich then yesterday but the blue is getting hit the worse.

Normally I don't try to talk someone into not quarantining, its a personal choice for everyone. Since you already opened pandoras box in the display tank it will give you a treatment for the fish that are in there. I would agree that for QT, I'd go as big as possible. I think that a lot of QT setups are too cramped and sparse and they end up stressing the fish out.

Hehe.

I'm a huge fan of quarantine no matter what you weiner keepers say. I don't think a 40b is big enough - I'd say 4 foot 55 gal minimum. I keep a small amount of sand in my qt, a couple flower pots, a big fake plant, and I use a clip on light so they can go to a darker area of the tank if they want. I even do copper treatments with the tank set up this way. It works well. I think that little bit of sand makes a world of difference. Oh and it's always set up.

I keep a Yellowtail Damsel in it all the time. He's had a number of medications...I think he's half preserved by now. He helps teach new fish how to eat prepared foods and beg at the front glass. He also teaches them how to dig annoying holes in the sand and helps them be less shy. One day I'll be nice and put him in my display, but he's a very friendly little Damsel and he does a good job so I don't really want to mess up that balance. I feel bad medicating him every couple months though.

@dr.jekykll

@s2k

Corals are doing quite well. Much of it's growth is actually from extending more then encrusting and the colors are coming in quite nicely. I chopped up the pink lemonade about 2 weeks ago and it's already encrusted and started nubbing out.

Anyways getting some construction done in the garage tomorrow. I was just planning on laying a bunch of arylic over the tanks and just run a air stone. Hopefully nothing gets into the tank.

New camera! Ooooh!
Which one?
That first shot is your best.
I find it always works best to put the end of the camera lens right up against the front glass.
The more perfectly perpendicular your lens is to the tank glass, the better.
When there is any angle, the clarity suffers.
