How not to build a 750/1500 gallon build thread-Khaosinc 3/5/71-8/30/11

well, I think its going to officially end. From the sounds of it I'm not going to be able to work anytime soon, let alone even get out of this place. So Regretfully I'm going to have to either find a home for everything in the tank or just sell everything and hopefully someday I will be able to rebuild.

Someone could have a hell of a steal. $7500 for everything. I can most likley deliver (I have a big truck and 18' trailer) once I get out of this place but loading will pretty much be out. other than advice.

I'll post a proper for sale add in the proper place.

Praying here in Brazil for khaos recovery...

I do believe that your fight is the most important thing right know and will be the most important of all.. (It´s for your live)... Is there any Reef friend in the area ? that could help Khaos for some days ?

Best regards.

That really sucks that you have to get rid of everything. But I don't think I'm alone when I say that most of us now couldn't care less about the tank. We're more concerned for your health and well being.

Kevin, here's wishing and hoping for a swift recovery!! I'm really sorry to hear about your future prospects in keeping and maintaining your reef, but your future health and abilities are the priority. We're praying for you!!

I walked away from reef keeping several years ago. After a couple of years, I was re-energized and restarted a tank. Taking a break from the reef now doesn't have to mean forever. Keep getting well.

+1
K your health comes first!! there is always time to rebuild in the future!!

Glad to hear you are progressing well. You had me freakin' sacred there for a while.

I'm not sure I can be concisidered "well". I have what amounts to a fungal infection in and around my heart. The had to remove the valve and artery from my heart and replace it again, along with some other fun while I was out.

ahh the joys of the bills this time.... LOL>

K,

This seriously sucks! I spent about 4 hours last night reading your entire build of this and it makes my stomach turn thinking of what you have been through medically and now you have to part with this due to financial and health reasons. If I was independently wealthy I would pay to have this maintained for you myself. You have worked way too hard and dreamed of this too long to be forced to part with it. I say we open up that paypal link again and start the donations back up so you can keep this dream going. I can't do much but between everyone here I think we could manage to handle the financial burden of having this maintained for you on a regular basis.

Please give this another shot before selling.

Jason

at the end of the day you need to worry about your health above all else. if you can't be around to care for the tank, it's not worth the stress and anxiety that comes from worrying about it while you recover. you don't necessarily have to sell off everything, but if doing so can bring some financial help your way, something you're certainly going to need given what you're going through, then there's nothing wrong with it. the hobby isn't going anywhere, and focusing on your health will allow you the opportunity to get back to it later on when you're healthy.

take care of you now.

please, no paypal links this time. It's not about the money as much as the simple fact that I just can't take of a tank, Especially one this size. I might trade down for a simpler tank or just might have to take some time off. I have no nibbles yet as few want to take on a tank this size so it might get torn down and just be a freshwater tank. as thats fairly cheap to keep running. Oscars and Arrowana being able to move around iun a tank might be cool.

wow k i just read both of the threads man took me 4 hours these was the most heartfelt threads i hav ever read what u have been through and survived is amazing man it is sad that u will hav to sell ur tank it is one of the best tanks i hav ever seen and the longest build thread i hav ever read and it looks like ur close to havin a double split

You know this has been an amazing thread, but you have to take care of yourself first. Nothing is worth your life, it's nothing short of a miracle that you are alive now, cherish that.

Hey Kev, I have not been here in a while (still only get sporadic notification emails from RC). I logged on last night and checked the thread just to see what was going on, only to hear of yet another setback and epic recovery had taken place.

The posts from your father and Tink were tremendous and it is readily apparent that you have no shortage of truly remarkable people surrounding you. I can't imagine posting on a message board in the midst of all of this going on. I am hopeful that since you have rid yourself of the artificial valves, that your recovery will be as remakable as the surgery itself.

I, for one, think that you are making the right move by selling the big tank. But, it is in your blood, so I hope that you do not get away from the hobby entirely (can we really still call it a hobby for you after all of this has transpired?)

Hell, get a nano or a 75! Something managable. I started a nano when I lost my reef after a storn. It helps! It is therapy for your soul! Don't give up on it entirely. I am certain that no matter what size tank that you would go to, you will have no problem getting people here to donate enough frags / corals to have one helluva great looking tank. It is a peaceful and calming part of your life. It is important.

Hang in there Kevin. You have truly been an inspirtation to many of us that have posted or read through this gut wrenching thread. I believe that you are on the road to a miraculous recovery my friend. Cheers!
