If I ever get my fish room sorted out, My kitchen is next.... you haven't seen destruction yet. Just about every wall needs to come out.

thats always cool! ive got feather dusters poppin up, but are the tiny ones.....

The ones I have get pretty big, I've seen them well over 1" across before I gutted my sand bed.

Mangrove tank is cycling water. Spent about an hour swearing at the damn bulkhead and even broke one of them (good thing I ordered 8 of them...LOL) but nothing is leaking and its cycling for a couple days on an old canister filter untill I stop mucking around in the sand bed. Mangroves should be in tommorow. Pics later.

to lazy to wait for the sand to settle....
Well, plumbing is tested, bulkheads repeatedly sworn at, but everything looks to be a go. It would be alot clearer if I'd stop screwing around with the sand bed.

Running with 1 powerhead and a canister filter to pull out some of the fine grains. I'll give it a few days before I turn it on to my main system to let it cycle a bit. The sand had been through heck and back. Will be fed by a 600 gph 1262 to let the plants suck out the yuck in the water. Fairly low flow and a DSB once I get the rest out of my main tank

The eggcrate is for the mangroves, currently sitting in a styrofoam box.. lighting is 8 80w giessman freshwater planted tank bulbs. Looks like my old fixture might have a balast out though

no idea who dug that... didn't think I had a pistol or mantis..

some guys survived all the sand bed abuse.

been trying on and off 1/2 the day to Id this guy...

And lastly, my cheato section. will be sunlit, and maybe supplimented. Level will be higher when running on the main system

well its in there somewhere, no idea where. Looked them up and most seems to eat worms and the like. Maybe it can enjoy a few bristle worms.

On the lighter side, mangrove swamp is up and running in its infancy, and I finally mounted all the frags so my old west saloon is no longer in the tank. Be forewarned, I got a little picture happy.

Full tank shot...

mangrove swamp...the beginning.

random other shots. I pulled my carbon reactor out of the sump to clean it... actually caught the coral banded shrimp in the process, so he's the official first resident. (and a cone snail apperently...LOL)

i think i'm more psyched about all your support tanks than the DS! very cool ideas you're doing.

not to be Debby Downer, but if that really is a cone snail, make sure you know where it is every time BEFORE you put your arm in the water. some cone snails can kill humans. I have no idea if it's really a cone snail, or if it's one that can even make you sick with its toxic "bite," but... If you can't tell and think it may be one, if it were me I'd just remove the little guy. Jebus, i hate being the PSA guy. :(

The egg crate was just there when I needed something convienient to put them on. As soon as the roots grow in enough I hope to have them in pots. Though I am toying with shoving the cactus calupera in to a bunch of the holes to hide the fact that its egg crate.

If it is, it been in my tank quite a while, I haven't put anything big in my system in a long time. And I dip and check for eggs on a frag.

Besides I have no idea where it went and worrying about it wouldn't be very useful. If I see it, I'l get it. otherwise I'll let it go about its buisness.

The mangrove swamp will be cool once it's finished. It looks like you have them zip tied or rubber banded to the egg crate. Be careful that it's no too tight otherwise once they start to grow it'll cut into the plant and cause problems. Don't give up on mangroves that look dead, I had one that lost all it's roots, the top shrivled up and thought was a gonner, its started to sprout roots again and come back.

Several are already showing new growth. I really need to take that light apart and fix whatever is loose in there. Lights go on and off for no reason. Its a couple years old and its an ebay made in china special, so I really can't complain to much about it other than finding 60" bulbs is a pain..

and I really should learn not to fix things that arn't broken sometimes.

I finally got someone to crawl up in the access hole to mount the exaust fan over my tank. Works a little too well. Think I'm going to have to put it on the RKE to turn it off. Tank hasn't been over 79 since the second day I had it on. Gets much cooler, I might actually have to put heaters in the dang thing.... Least the house won't be so humid.

LOL
