Mixed 500 gal. A.G.E. build. 12 unit LED Radion lights.

I go up to Minnesota 5 or 6 times a year for work. I did find a nice LFS up in the Twin Cities that I really enjoy.
Saltwater Empire. The 2 owners are very helpful and spend a lot of time with me talking reef tank.
If your ever up that way it is a must see shop.

David,
Great build. I have a 300 DD tank with 6 Radions and am just now pricing a 96" x 36" x 28" AGE/Stand as my dream tank. I am looking at a coast to coast type external overflow, or an internal like yours. Did you consider an external vs. internal, and why did you go internal? Thanks. I've learned a lot so far from this build.
Dave

One other question, about your Radions. Have you played with natural mode, and why did you choose your own program over it? Better color, I assume?

I have been running Natural Mode at 75% max intensity, but may try your program (from the Ecotech forum thread), as your tank and goals for SPS growth are very similar to mine.

Natural wasn't out when I bought the lights.
With artificial I know that I am at 100% with all colors for 6 hours.
As far as my own colors I dont use my own. I set it to thier default 20k.
I never looked at the Natural mode, Do you like it?

I like Natural Mode in that it is the closest to a preprogrammed set and forget setting, and it is based on the sun's light at the equator, just a bell curve. Good setting for someone just setting up the light with only the overall intensity, night and day start times to set. What it does not have is the 6 hour punch at 100% your setting has. I had 9 Sol blues over this reef for several months and I did the same thing with mine, 100% for six hours.

So I am thinking Natural Mode may be perfect for LPS, but that SPS may need that middle of the day extended period at 100%. I use natural Mode on my 100 gallon LPS Reef (2 Radions), and it has never looked better. I have the overall intensity at 50%. Day starts at noon and ends at 1 am.

I just duplicated your program on my 300, because the colors of your SPS are fantastic. I was peaking intensity at 75% over this reef in Natural Mode, so I think I will peak the 6 hour middle period at 75% and slowly raise it as you did until it hits 100%. I just dealt with a blue clove polyp invasion in this tank with some Fluke Tabs, so I've been water changing the heck out of this tank, and finally the nutrient spike is subsiding, so I hope conditions are finally stabilizing and the SPS can get back to consistent conditions.

How did you like your Sol blues.
I was at MACNA in Des Moines last September, Aqua Illumination introduced a new LED light fixture but I haven't seen it on the market yet

I just duplicated your program on my 264 with 4 radeons three days ago. My glass seems to be getting dirtier quicker but so far my corals are loving the extended day at 100%. I will keep you posted on progress
