I ordered a new skimmer. I'm getting the SRO 8000ext. I might have a SRO 5000ext for sell soon.

Good choice. It is what I am running on my system which is about 600 gallons currently with room to grow. I also bought a back up BB 10k pump for pump malfunctions. The spare is handy for general maintainence. The head cleaner works well if you did not purchase one for your 5000. I am using an Ehiem 1262 to supply the skimmer which sits about 2 1/2 feet above my sump. SRO skimmers are a good product for the money in my opinion, but you already knew that! Good luck.

I'm not going to get the neck cleaner. I feel it will with plenty of efficiency without the neck cleaner.

Ive been running 700 gallons for over a year now and the SRO 5000ext has kept up just fine. It's a great skimmer.
