Mixed 500 gal. A.G.E. build. 12 unit LED Radion lights.

That's a nice size. If I could do it over again I would go 44" instead of 40.
Why did you choose 30 deep?

a friend of mine own a tank with this dimension and I like it a lot but I also was considering going to 27 instead. 44" will be nice to. I definitely like your tank size

Hey David, I ordered a sheet of 1/2 inch Starboard to my specifications from my local acrylic shop. What did you use to cut it? I'm sure I will need to trim it as I ordered it a little larger just in case. Plus, I will need to cut for the built in overflow.

It is easy to cut with a skill saw but see if the shop your getting it has on of those vertical saws(like you'd see at Home Depot), they cut it really nice.

This morning I noticed a few of my Zoa's were looking real bad off. Sure enough as i camped out at tank all morning I caught the sailfin in the act. As soon as John gets home I'll go get his trap. He's out of there

That is crazy. Its almost seems as if we don't know the truth about certain animals in their original habitat. That is the second tang I have read that started eating on corals. Maybe there was some hidden algae that he saw or the zoa color imitated the color algae. Lately Hippo tangs have gone rogue and this is the first I have heard from a Sailfin. Better start keeping an eye on my two. What color were the zoas?

I had to get rid of my Hippos cus they were eating them.
I noticed the zoas not looking so good a week ago.
I feed 3 times a day and i feed a lot.
I feed veggie flakes, veggie pellets, plus algae clips.
In late eaviningi feed a lot of home made Rods food

I've heard of it happening a lot more frequently with hippos. I think this is the first I've heard of an issue with a sailfin.

He's going in sump for now. If colonies come back i'll know if it him. He did grab a polyp off my rock and a few of my colonies are dieing

My Regal angel was a model citizen for 3.5 years.
Then one day went on a Zoa and Clam munching frenzy.....
I moved the zoas and the clams.

Skimmed through your thread but came to your thread as was trying to find info on the SRO 5000ext as that is the skimmer I have purchased and am going with on my tank. Glad to see it did so well with such a larger volume of water then I shall have.

Also your tank is making me really think I need to upgrade into a larger tank from the get go. Beautiful tank! Pretty much wanted same dimensions but 36 inch wide would be fine for me. I really had my heart set on a longer tank before finding a good deal on the tank I currently have sitting in storage. So temping. I must stop looking at these big tank threads :)

Hope the offending tang isnt the culprit. I get attached to my fish.... :) Well heck, I get attached to my fish, corals, inverts,... rocks! I am about to be shipping back to the usa and is going to kill me to have to part ways with my clams. Beautiful tank.
