Mixed 500 gal. A.G.E. build. 12 unit LED Radion lights.

I would think upgrading to newer model with full warranty on a $950 light for just $300 is well worth the upgrade. I just upgraded and much happier since I'm getting a lot more light and better colors all around.

I have 12 lights over display. 4 for my frag tank. $4800 is a lot of money for something that will not help in my coral growth or color.
I do have a pretty assume looking tank with the gen 1 lights.
Who knows what will be available in 4 years.

It's technology, always going to be something newer and "better" on the horizon. I just bought the S4 when it came out, guess what? In 2 months they'll be something faster and better but that does not make the S4 junk! Tank is looking great David and waiting for those shots you promised before you were doing some trimming! Also, you usually take good Full Tank Shots....Any advice? I need to get some of mine with the minimal amount of corals I have...

But if everything is work with the first first gen. Why does he need to upgrade?

Not saying he should. I'm saying they'll ALWAYS be something bigger and better right around the corner. If the enhancements are marginal then the investment is not worth the money or we'd all be broke! David's tank is beautiful and hope someday to make it over and check it out.

I've said you can't wait technology and I don't. But as you said you can't run out and buy the newest best thing just cus it's avaliable. Ecotech did a great job the first time. As of now I'm only running these lights at a 100% for 2 hours.

what other company lets you trade in and upgrade? Ecotech is a company I would continue to do business with and for a new light with a new warranty for $300 bucks to me is an investment since I know I can get more for the pro if i ever sell it than i would for a Gen 1. BTW, my 8 pros look amazing!

Yes i think everyone will agree that Ecotech put out a great product. And Ecotech stands behind their great product.
You asked me if i upgraded to the pro's. And yes $300 per light is a good deal. But as I stated I think Ecotech pretty much got it right the 1st time. I get great color I get great growth. I probably get better growth and color then 90% of the reefers out there. And I don't mind saying that my tank does very well And looks assume.
So my answer is I think I will wait while and see what happens, As i don't think my reef will benefit much if any from the up grade.
I might get the newer lens, but all that will do is allow me to do is turn down my power to lights. Its not going to make my corals super corals.
I don't plan on selling my tank or my lights.

David,
I feel the same way about my lights. I have 12 AI Sol Blues on my tank. Everything is growing well and looks great so I am not going to mess with it. Sometimes new is not better at least not enough to justify the price and the benefits.

Tank looks awesome!!!!
