Mixed 500 gal. A.G.E. build. 12 unit LED Radion lights.

Amazing thread took a few hours to catch up but was well worth it looking forward to see your future plans with this piece of the ocean you have. Any tips on how to get girlfriends/wives to go along with these sort of projects?:)

I have 2 mp60's and 2 mp40's. The front left mp60 is in sync with the back right mp40. And the front right mp60 is in sync with the back mp40. The front left and back right are opposite from the front right and back left. So it kinda goes in a circle
Did I say this right?

I'm going to have 2 MP40s and 2 MP60s as well, and I want to do something similar. Are the two pairs of opposing pumps synced together at all, or is there two separate master pumps each with it's own slave?

One master pump two are set to anti synk one is master one is synked with master:

Another option to try, regarding achieving a gyre effect thru the strategic placement of Vortechs, is placing all 4 pumps on the side panels. Placing them far left and right on the side panels, with the same master/slave, sync/anti-sync settings, will allow the user to move the gyre current in both a clockwise/counterclockwise, left/right fashion around the reef. Thereby, greatly increasing the random, natural flow/current options found on the reef.

Thank you very much for the education. You have a beautiful build and I hope to take advantage of your many experiences is in my next tank. I have truly benefitted from your postings and look forward to your continued successes.

David - What are your thoughts on using closed loop in a tank this size? Do you think that the complications of the additional plumbing and additional heat generated would not have justified the benefits in terms of flow? Thx

I think you would have had to use two closed loop systems on a tank this size to achieve a good flow rate.

Using Mp60's and mp40's. Makes closed loop so old school.

I'm in agreement with David partially on this. If you're talking about a closed loop on bottom of tank then I think you're asking for a disaster. One bulkhead/plumbing failure and your DT is drained of every drop of water devastating your tank and HOUSE! I've thought of closed loop drain being off my overflow and then using returns cut out of the top of tank with drops here and there with the addition of the MP60s. (I won't be able to do MP40s because the acrylic will be 1" thick)
