Mixed 500 gal. A.G.E. build. 12 unit LED Radion lights.

David,
I have subscribed to this thread for a long time now and enjoy catching up on it every week. In fact this thread, along with one other (glassreef) are my favorite two builds and they are the foundation for my big tank build.

This tank is truly an inspiration.

great build beautiful tank... do you run all colors at 100%? or do you have any colors turned down or off for aesthetic or growth reasons?

I was running all colors at 100% for 6 hours. Now I'm going to go the other way. I can't see my chalices tucked back under the rocks. I'm in the process of cutting my lights way back. I think my SPS's will grow just fine and my LPS's will be happier.
At least I will find out.

Thank you for all the kinds words

Are you running the radions only? I have been running them on their own and have seen some colors fade to not so bright. Do you think the radions should be supplemented by T-5's or are you happy with the colors? Maybe its not my lighting and something else.

How long did you wait to turn them up to 100%? I have had mine at 55% for over 2 months but am afraid to turn them up any higher in fear of killing everything.

Love your tank, sorry for the million questions :) Thanks!

I see no reason for supplemental lighting.
After 2 weeks I started turning up my lights 5 to 10% week along with longer times

so, are you running all colors at the same intensity? or have blues or reds higher then the whites and greens ect... what i am trying to figure out is if you could have more or less of any colors in the fixture what would it be (aesthetically) or is the mix perfect for how you want it to look with everything equal?

Yes I set them different ways at times. Right now I am in the process of cutting back my lighting,. for 7 hours it is just blues with jusy a touch of white and a bit of green and red

Tank came down this weekend. It looks like it will be down for 4 weeks.
I first put water, sand, and rocks in tank the 1st part of October 2011, I didn’t get lights on till November 19th 2011.
Right after I turned on lights I noticed Air Bubbles in Fused Glass. There were a lot of them. But I spent so much time and money getting tank in house. Tank was already cycled and ready to start building my personal reef. So I ignored the number one rule in this hobby PATIENCE. I wanted my reef I thought I could live with the Air Bubbles in Fused Glass.
But every time I look at tank those bubbles were the 1st thing I saw.
I called Lou at Worldwide Corals (bought tank thru them). The very next day Acrylic Glass Exhibits (A.G.E) called me and apologized. They told me that if I wanted, they would come pick up my tank, replace the glass, and return the tank within 4 weeks.
I was floored. I have never received such great costumer service. ‘
Taking this beautiful reef down that I built was a big decision. I thought about it for a few days.
It’s down I look at this as a adventure. All the corals fish are in a big 300 gallon Rubbermaid tub and sump and frag tank. Rock is in another tub.
Everyone is looking good.

I had to read that twice because I couldnt believe it the first time I read it!!!!! It sounds like you are keeping a positive attitude about it but I know I would be so devastated!

Reading posts like that just makes me sick. David, hope everything keeps happy. Just think, now you've got a different perspective of all your fine specimens. Top Down box staring for hours each day:D

I just went back and read through your build thread, sorry to hear you had to tear your tank down. Although it does sound like they have good customer service, it's too bad their quality control didn't catch the bubbles before it went out the door.
